anti fatigue mats for temporary / portable stall mats

I am wanting stall mats for horse shows. Something that I (not a very big woman with the upper body strength of a toddler) could load onto a wheel barrow myself and move around. The big mats are always a two person job and still awkward. I was thinking of zip tying the 3’X3’ 1" thick rubber grid style mats together … wondering if anyone has had success doing something like this?

It’s been asked before and there is a company that sells dedicated ones for shows that are smaller and lighter.
I use the interlocking workout mats from Lowe’s. They shift a tiny bit, but not too much. I use a lot of shavings too.

Hey! do you use foam work out mats? or are they rubber? I can not seem to find anything other than foam at Lowes.

Mighty Lite has portable stall “kits” with foam mats: https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/mighty-lite-portable-floor-mat-4297

Or you can make your own for a lot cheaper - I use these in my stalls (permanently) and they work well. You’ll have more individual mats since they are smaller than the Mighty Lites, but you can probably do 2 stalls for the price of 1 Mighty kit. https://www.rubberflooringinc.com/interlocking-tile/foam/portable-stall-mats.html

The workout mats that people use are foam. The ones I use are foam as well, but I think they’re a little thicker/sturdier than the ones you buy at big box stores.

There are interlocking rubber mats available too that weigh 25 lbs each: https://www.rubberflooringinc.com/interlocking-tile/34megalock-rubber-tile.html

I have the Mighty Lite mats, bought many years ago direct from Summit, for about half the price TSC currently charges (which is a third less than Smart Pak Equine). I, too, am on the small side, and I have no problem moving these, and they’ve lasted me for over two decades for the kind of use you’re considering.

I would kill to find a canadian retailer of the mightylite mats!

If you’re in Canada, Equimats!
In BC, you can find them at Dreamcatcher Meadows stables as they are a distributer, or Bar T5 in alberta is too. I think there’s more but that’s all I know of.

They’re amazing! Lightweight, last forever, easy clean.
