Has anybody who doesn’t have TVG figured out how to watch the races from Turfway online?
For those who don’t feel like looking it up:
ESPN Sept 30, 4 pm
Jockey Club Gold Cup
Beldame Stakes
Joe Hirsch Turf Classic
Vosburgh Stakes
Goodwood Handicap
Oh thank you, thank you, thank you, I looked and could not find! Now I can set my recorder and watch, then share with my friend who can’t be here today to watch! Thank you Barnfairy!
Youbet is carrying Turfway.
Lava Man is out of the Goodwood.
I’m kind of glad-I couldn’t pick btwn Tiago and Lava Man. Tiago might be our only hope of a nice TC 3 yr old running next year.
Re: Kentucky Cup:
“SEEM” overmatched? I wonder if Cat Shaker and Muqbil were talked into running to fill the race? If one of them wins, WOW, what an upset.
The other starters seem overmatched. Cat Shaker has won just 3 of 34 starts, while Muqbil was claimed two starts back for $30,000 at Mountaineer Park.
Why was Lava Man scratched? Injury?
Apparently not. According to the DRF, he worked 6f at Hollywood Park this morning.

I guess they have other plans for him.
They may send Lava Man in the Oak Tree Mile or the Clement Hirsch (both on grass) next weekend.
Muqbil was scratched from the KY Cup Classic. He’s a “back class horse” with some graded stakes credentials from a while ago. He raced in one claiming event and was claimed for $30k by his current connections who were looking to take him to Tampa bay for the winter turf program there.
I won’t mention any results till the day is done, but anybody catch the Flower Bowl!? Who was that? The girl I really like came in 2nd
The winner was a Euro import who has been here for most of the seaon, running in allowance and minor stakes.
For those of you wanting to see the Kentucky Cup w/o a spoiler–
As of 5 minutes ago, NTRA.com didn’t have the results posted on the main page, but if you click on the race on the right hand side of the screen, the race video is posted on the race’s page without results.
Not sure how long it will last until they put up a headline with the results.
I was so thrilled I got to see the race without hearing the results beforehand.
The other races have results.
I now have finally managed to watch every race of the day without knowing the results. It was hard! 5 hours of HRTV-the internet… I am worn out. The Goodwood was a great way to end the day.
Kentucky Cup was no suprise and I am happy for all.
But I am really in general tickled pink with our top 3 year olds-all of them really. It is just awesome that from May to today the top 4 are still kicking ass. It’s so exciting as a fan.
What I learned today-Maybe Lava Man didnt like DM, but, that PC was not a complete fluke. I could go on and on talking about today…But I gotta rest now
Oh, to add-they’ve been saying all week that Lava Man would likely scratch today and run on grass next week. If I can find where I read it, I’ll post it later.
And we have to do this again tomorrow…oh what a pity ;);)
Just saw the video of the Goodwood…
My gosh, that was possibly the funniest looking first quarters I have ever seen… they’re normally not that strung out that early in the race…
Fabulous Strike takes the Vosburgh by a distance. Discreet Cat gets 3rd in a wall of horses. Scorching pace to make your comeback race in.
Great performance by English Channel in the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic to justify his odds-on favouritism. Was checked coming off the turn and had to squeeze through a very tight gap on the rail to get up. A less genuine horse would have backed off.
Btw, that’s two races in a row for Smart Strike sired horses, plus he has Curlin in the big race later on. Would be quite the triple if Curlin wins.
Now THAT was a horse race.
Curlin digs deep to finally pass Lawyer Ron just before the post in the JCGC.
Is the only one of these 3yos to have beaten older horses? Tough nut he is.
Also makes for 3 G1 winners today with Smart Strike as the Daddy, from 6f to 12f, on grass and dirt.
What a day for the Smart Strike kids!
Which, on a somewhat related note, I couldn’t help but notice the more than usual amount of commercials for the big KY farms… which makes me wonder who exactly are they trying to market to?
Do you really think the biggest breeders in the country are sitting there watching ESPN saying, “Hmmm… who’s this Dynaformer horse standing at Three Chimneys that they keep advertising on TV?”
