Any Breyer collectors out there?

I am the director of an equine non-profit, and we’ve just had a large donation consisting of a lifetime collection of about 100 Breyer horses.

We’d like to sell the horses as a fundraiser. Most are out of their original packaging but were kept in cases, so are unscathed.

I know zero about Breyers. What is the best source to identify, value, and sell these? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Lifelong collector here who knows another close by as well. Just sent you a PM.

I’m not close by but am happy to help online if I can. Feel free to PM me

This girl has a blog, might want to contact her: http://breyerhistorydiva.blogspot.ca/

i have about 8. i love them, but i hate to dust so i probably won’t get too many more. many people get into the hobby big time. good luck!

Not sure how recently this site was updated, so the price information on different models may or may not be correct, but this is a great site for identification:

ponylagoon is way out of date.

Identifyyourbreyer.com will help ID many of them.

Modelhorseblab.com has an amazing forum full of people.

Wish I was closer, I would love to help. I’m pretty deep in the Model Horse world now. LOL

Former Breyer intern here.

I’m guessing since they were owned by a collector and kept in cases, many will be Special Runs.

However, also having interned for a nonprofit… if any of them turn out to be regular runs and not worth a lot, consider spraypainting those ones gloss white, with chalkboard paint, or otherwise redecorated and use as centerpieces at future fundraisers =]

Thank you everyone for this very helpful info. TwoDreamRides, I am laughing at your comment, because I thought almost the same thing!

Epona~ how can I get registered on Modelhorseblab.com
I am a very serious collector, with many, many models, and every time I try to register on that site I can’t get past that horrid messy anti-spam code thingy. It’s all blurred and insensible, looks nothing like letters or numbers, at least with what my system is showing. I tired the sound option, but that was worse, really incomprehensible. I want to join that site so I can try my hand at customizing models, just for fun. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have boxes of Breyers from the late 70’s/early 80’s in my garage. I think about 50 of them, plus the original western stable. I’ve never been able to part with them because they were such a huge part of my childhood, but I also don’t have any place to display them (oh, and I’m not big on chotchkies in my house). May have to unpack some of these and check out if they are worth anything…

Thanks for the site references.

I get mine on Ebay. Its usually the best indicator of prices. But if you are doing it for a fundraiser people might pay more.
