Any experience with Gumbits?

I have a horse who can be a little dry in the mouth. Any experience with gumbits? Fairly $$$ but if the product works, then I’ll give it a whirl. I usually stuff his big face full of canada mints, but he crunches through so quickly.

He also tends to get a “fat tongue” on the right, near where he is already pink at the lip, which makes it appear to be out more than it actually is. From one judge this summer, I really got nailed for having tongue out, which was a bummer.

Any thoughts?

my horse spits them out. No matter what I do, wrap them in fruit leather, hide them in a handful of sugar cubes… he spits them out one by one.

Same as lorilu- all three of the horses I tried it on spat them out. I tried one myself and they taste like soap. No wonder.

ha, thank you!

I had some many many years ago when they first came out. Meh.

Try a sweet iron bit. Or copper.

I swapped to a copper mouthpiece with the peanut recently. My mare likes to hold tension in the shoulder and poll. It does help most of the time!

My horse spit them out too; so I just buy organic beeswax pieces and add a little powdered sugar (this is basically generic cheap gumbits) and syringe some in my horses mouth before rides for my grinder
