Just ordered one tonight. I had a new Bighorn that I liked but it was just too heavy to throw up on the 16 hander. Saw one in person and it looked very well made, the leather was nice and the seat was super padded. On paper , it looks like what I want. Tack shop will keep it if it doesn’t fit my horse so I really had nothing to lose to try it. One concern I have is whether the cordura can hold up to my heavy saddle bags or if the rings are going to be torn out. Fingers crossed we’ve got a winner.
So I bought it and I love it! The leather is nice, not incredible, but very nice. The seat is well padded but doesn’t sit you too high because of the padding. LOVE the rigging. Underneath is very well fleeced. Put it on my TWH and it fit like a glove. The back didn’t lift up, didn’t sit funny…the front caressed him perfectly lol. Super easy to throw up there on his tall back, nice and lightweight. I mounted from a bench but when I got off, I left one foot in the near stirrup and stepped down to see how much it would move, it did move a bit but was in no danger of sliding the whole way over, and my girth was loose. I need to tighten it a bit more. Got to take my first ride in it yesterday, not for very long but enough to get a feel for it. Sent him into a running walk and it felt like riding on air, it was perfect! I hope it lives up to my first impression of it.
