Any ISH or ID in the northeast?

Hey all, wondering if anyone has any connections for Irish horses in the MA/NY/NJ area. I’ve searched around online and not much action in the Facebook groups.

Looking for something at least started under saddle to get back into eventing after a big break with small kiddos.

I think I saw O’Hanlon eventing with some for sale. Just across the border in Canada, but looked lovely!

Beautiful! I’m a little scared to ask if they have anything in my budget :grimacing:

Many so called Irish sport horses are continental bloodlines bred in Ireland.

I’m slowly learning about bloodlines and registries. I mostly care about type, soundness and mentality.

irish manor in Hunterdon County, NJ usually has a couple imports available

I believe OP is looking for something that qualifies for IDHSNA or IDHSC.

OP I know some people in the area from our breed groups. Also they just posted our breed inspection locations and going to an inspection in September would be a great way to connected to ID and IDSH people. I’d help with recommendations but I’m in the NW. A Canadian breeder https://bayviewstud.ca/ is nearish and breeds some really nice ones, and does some importing; I made the Canadian/American exchange work in my favor when I imported a lovely ID filly last year.

Thanks for the ideas!

I was looking at ISH and ID, and for the ID, the registry and inspections seem to be pretty important. I’ve seen a lot of young stock being passed off as pure ID that’s pretty obviously DHH, Friesian, or, some sort of draft cross. But once I’ve spend some time watching and riding the real article, there is no substitute :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Just remember, if you are looking for a horse with a percentage of Irish Draught in it, it is called an Irish Draught Sport Horse, IDSH, not ISH, because anything that comes from Ireland can be an Irish Sport Horse and not have any ID in it at all.

Ooof where? We are pretty strict on the registry and what percentage blood is required.

Mostly random ads but also a dealer in the NE I can PM the site if you’re curious…
