Any other Ranch sorters out there?

I am totally hooked on Ranch Sorting. Is anybody else on here doing it?

I got my self an older cutting bred mare and having a Blast!

It’s like Team Penning without so much craziness.

I know it’s catching on Nationwide. A bunch of my barnmates just went to the Reno Rodeo and kicked butt in it!

I would love to hear if more of you are trying it!!

Here too! Just hard finding them in my neck of the woods in Florida. But we have fun and we love it too!

I go when I can find one close. My cutting bred Reiner loves it!! If I could find a partner that had a competitive horse I’d consider hauling to the $$ sortings.

I am very lucky to board where they have it weekly and events four times a year. We have a local event for Sorting within an hour every weekend.

It’s gotten so popular… everyone can do it! A bunch from my barn just went to Reno Rodeo where they have the Ranch Sorting Championships (as they call it)… and they had such a blast.

I am so glad I found this sport… after years of hunters and jumpers (that I still love) it is so relaxing and fun to sort cattle!! :winkgrin:

I have ranch sorted on all of my endurance arabs, of course in an english saddle too. Hey, I wasn’t roping, no horn needed.

It is totally addictive, and FUN FUN FUN!

Yes, less hectic than penning. But I like penning too.

I love ranch sorting! I too am lacking a partner though. I’ve been trying to train my fiancé to do it, but he doesn’t take to me teaching him to ride very well :lol:

I’ve taken my cutting bred mare, my dad’s fat old arab, and my retired jumper…and they all seem to love it! The retired jumper, not as much as the others, but he seems happy to get to run around again.

We have arena sorting where I am - how is ranch sorting different?

I did it a few times in clinics with my nephew on my hunter gelding and loved it! We weren’t particularly good at it, but it was so much fun. The arena that held the clinics went under so I don’t know if there are any good places for beginners to go around here anymore.
