I have recently aquired 2 lovely Polosh Arab mares, one is said to be registered and the other’s sire and dam are. Now the breeder isn’t willing to give me the papers, yet, but I would like to know more about them. Is there anywhere I can search names? I have the one’s reg name and year of birth and the seconds ear of birth and her parent’s reg names. Any help would be wonderful!!
Well, maybe try the arabian horse association, maybe you can find something there? My friend has a registered gelding, and I’m fairly certain he’s a Polish Arab. I’ll get back to you on that!
You can sign up for the AHR (Arabian Horse Registry) database…you can get a one time only price or for the whole year. Then you can research any registered Arab or HA and find pedigrees, show records, production records, etc. After that, you need several good books (or the Net) to research the ancestors (or if you get a year’s worth of the Arab database, you can use it).
I have a triple bred to Bask Polish mare…had her since she was 18 mos old and now she’s almost 21…she’s been a great horse.
The arab website arabianbreeders.net has some wonderful sleuths who are very good at identifying horses…you might want to post there…
I see your Canadian. You could try here at the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry. Hopefully someone from there can help you out.
Great! Thank you so much
If you know a registered name, you can try entering it here:

If you do get the pedigree, then you can also click on photos at the top left, etc., and scroll through ancestors.

Silly Me! I didn’t even check this… the 3yo has the sire line on here…

And here is the sire of the 2yo

any ideas?
I can add the other one’s pedigree if you tell me the sire and dam. I added the full pedigree of Melidere.
What do you want to know? Just google some of the names. Some very solid bodied, racing type Arabians in the pedigree.

Wonderful! Thank you
The dam of the second filly is Weibina (not 100% on the spelling) and her sire is abyss. She is nameless at the moment.
I know absolutely nothing about Arabs or polish Arabs. This is all new to me. I was told the pedigrees were very nice, but I have no clue what to make of it.
In the sire of the 2 year old, I see a lot of Russian lines…some very good ones. Moment was full brother to Muscat…Priboj…Mammona several times…Arax via Nabeg through Menes…
Combined with some great Polish lines…mostly very athletic horses, many with size, good legs, big shoulders, long necks (Salon line), and a lot of bone. Many of the Russian horses go back to an early importation from England from the Crabbett stud…Rissalma, etc.
Both pedigrees contain lots of well-known, successful Russian and Polish lines.
here is their pic - the two greys are the ones Carrera has and the bay is mine.

Actually I know a little bit (but not very much) about these horses. They may have been involved in a rescue of some type last summer. I believe Ann Moore in Lanark acquired Wiebina. She is on Facebook.
I have a middle-aged grandaughter of Aglaya through her son *Agil and she continues to surprise us with her movement and work ethic.
Question to OP–Why is the owner withholding the papers? Isn’t it law that the papers must go with the horse?
Love the two greys BTW.
I wish.
The Arabian horse registry unlike others will not work with you at all if the former owner didn’t sign over the papers.
And they wonder why AHA membership is dwindling.
This poster is in Canada though. CAHR is who they would likely be registered with.
I always thought that is was law in Canada that you had to give the papers. But it now looks like I can get them for a nominal fee.
Do these lines warrant getting the papers??
Yes, get the papers if you can!
I don’t get why the previous owner feels the need to hang onto the papers? Can’t they just sign them over to you to do the proper transfer.
I’d get the papers too! Especially if it is for re-sale. Are they going to be horse size?
only one has papers - two are not registered - so we will need to do the registration and transfer for two and just a transfer for one. I think I have it figured out and have been talking with the Canadian registry. These are lovely little girls - seems a shame to not have their breeding go with them. Hopefully we get it all worked out.
