Any recommendations on bush hog like rotary cutters?

Mine has seen better days and I will not fix it again. So I am in the market for an 84 inch rotary cutter for my 58 hp Kubota. The bush hog squealer I have is off-set which is fine but it has lead to wear and tear on the A-frame 3 point hitch. I have to replace it twice. I want something that is heavier duty I guess.

Anyone out there with experience with these? Any recommendations of brands?

Mostly just mowing pastures but sometimes cutting brush back so it needs to be able to cut smaller saplings and the like.

I have a brush hog mower that I paid $700 for about 15 years ago it was some unknown Czech manufacturer and it is still ticking along. I mow my pastures for weeds and sometimes get into bigger brush and it will take out 2" things no problem, but I also break a lot of shear pins.

I have also used a brand name Bush Hog which is a little bit larger and boy howdy is it a bigger tougher monster. It’s also $2500. If you don’t see yourself needing to mow small trees on a regular basis you can probably do just fine with the less expensive ones.

I have a Wood’s pto brush hog–grinds through anything, but boy, what a PITA to hook up. I end up sweating, cussing, and need a good stiff drink after I finally have it attached to the tractor.

They are generally built for a purpose and a price.
Depends on how you use it and what makes you wince when you write the check.
Bush Hog is the only one I have had that didn’t eventually run away screaming!

We have a Kodiak. It is a bitch to hook to, so we mostly leave it on the tractor as a result. It is good ballast to counter the FEL.

I have a Hardee. Has worked for 20+ years with one change of blades. It’s the LT 72 series. Their HD series is stronger yet.

Squealer is Bush hogs light duty line. Heavy is better and lasts longer without damage. Look for replaceable skid shoes or get a welding machine.

JD. I haven’t managed to kill it yet. Which is a recommendation.
