Any Retirement Barn Suggestions in Massachusetts?

Hi Everyone,

Are there any retirement barns in MA that people would recommend? My horse isn’t being ridden so I’m hoping to move her to a retirement place that is less expensive than a traditional boarding facility. I’m looking for a place that has the option for a horse to come in during bad weather. She doesn’t need 24 hour turn-out either so I’m open to a place that just does day turnout or night turnout during the summer.

Thanks!

I run a retirement Farm (not in Massachusetts) and I tell people to call some local equine vet practices. They’ll now which barns provide good horse care, and they’ll know small, under the radar places as well.

I’m just starting up a little operation in Rutland. Right on the Holden border. Only five stalls but 170 acres with auto waterers. My mustang lives out 24/7 but for freezing rain, ice, or stall rest I’d turn in.

I’ll PM you if you’re looking in my area

I would contact Ross Haven Farm. Truly wonderful care run by some very knowledgable people!

where in Ma? A friend has a lovely barn just over the border in NH, very very reasonable and A+++ care. My 2 are moving out in 2 months so I know there will be openings, and may be others right now. She is awesome with the oldies.

A barn mates horse just returned from post surgery rehab at Ross Haven. She was very happy with his care.

Thanks for the replies so far! I’m looking in the south and west parts of MA. I would also consider Rhode Island if the situation was a good fit.
