Anybody seen someone show western dressage one handed?

I am curious is anyone has seen (in person or in video) ANYONE show western style dressage one handed in a curb. I KNOW it is allowed to show two handed in a curb, but I am curious if anyone has decided to show one handed.

I also wonder if showing two handed in a curb (or even just sticking to a snaffle) is ultimately detrimental to WSD gaining acceptance with western riders from other disciplines.

I judged a western dressage class last year, and was surprised that even the well broke western horses switched to a snaffle for this class.

My trainer, a long-time Arabian/Morgan/Friesian enthusiast who trains all breeds and uses low level dressage with every horse regardless of the end discipline, switches to a snaffle for dressage, even though her Friesian shows in a curb in the show ring. She dislikes the current rules and believes that anyone choosing to use a curb should have to do so one-handed. Of course, she also shows her personal horses in regular dressage classes as well, unlike some of the western dressage participants.

Isn’t there a rule book? I’d check the rule book and a steward.

The rules allow one handed or two handed with a curb. Two handed with a snaffle. Not worried about the rules, just wondering if ANYONE is showing one handed in a curb. I think I will show Izzy one handed end of May.

I showed one handed a couple years ago with my guy. Got a very good score too!

I was just studying this USEF Basic Test 3 just yesterday!

Thanks for sharing that. Basic 3 seems like a hard test compared to training level: particularly the canter to free jog near the end. That test looked nice.

Yes, I liked this one. I thought she was leaning forward a bit, but then realized with that kind of contact -one handed on a curb -this is likely to be the result. Nicely forward too, and free moving. I have a few videos I watch for things I like and things to guard against. Mind -no reflection on the riders. I’m not looking for perfection, I am simply using their videos as learning tools for a noob like me.
