Anybody Tried Smartpak's Dog Food in Daily Packets?

I’m considering adding a test month in with my next Smartpaks. Somebody said in reviews their shedding dog shed much less on the lamb flavor. As the owner of a Bernese and an overworked vacuum cleaner , I’m interested in testing that theory.

I was wondering about the vegetable supplement/mix-in myself, if anyone’s tried that. I’m happy with their food overall but every time I try to sneak veggies in they act like I’m being mean.

No experience with Smartpak, but I’ll back up that reviewer’s claim…after I swapped my dogs to a better quality food, their coats changed dramatically. My Aussie mutt still blows out twice a year, but it’s done in a few days, as opposed to a couple of weeks. Everyone sheds less, and everyone is smooth and shiny.

I love the Smartpak dog food! I have 4 labs on it now, and they look fabulous. Two were rescues whose coats were horrible and now they’re sleek and shiny. I have 2 older girls on the Senior and one young one on the chicken and rice and one on the lamb and rice. I get the daily paks bc I have 4 on different food. It works great for that, and doesn’t cost much at all. Free Shipping! Yeah!

I liked the food a lot, but once they stopped doing free shipping codes, it became cheaper to support my neighborhood pet shop and buy bags of Wellness again, which my dog does equally well on.

Read the ingredients. One of the foods they sell, don’t remember which one, has “ground cellulose” or something of that nature in the ingredients. In some cases, that’s actually code for sawdust.

I think most of the pre-shredded cheese you buy in the grocery store contains cellulose…to keep it from clumping together.

Love the Livesmart foods!

My 2yo lab was raised on the Livesmart Chicken & Brown Rice. He always looked fabulous on it (better than his show-winning siblings), but when Smartpak did away with free shipping codes, I switched him to Taste of the Wild (to save a few bucks). Within 3 months, he looked about 50% as good as he did on the Livesmart. My friends even commented on the change. Needless to say, 2 of my friends decided to put their dogs on the Livesmart and combine their orders with mine. I couldn’t stand to see my dog’s coat continue to decline, so I switched him back to Smartpak. We now qualify for the free shipping, and all 4 of our dogs look & feel fantastic! Our dogs ALL love the Livesmart foods. I can’t say that it helps them shed less, but I can vouch that their skin & coat is much healthier!

Do you mean this stuff? http://www.smartpakequine.com/livesmart-harvest-mix-8664p.aspx?cm_vc=Search
If so, I use it! I’m not particularly consistent with it - but I do usually add it in if the raw I’m feeding doesn’t have any veggies premixed in, or if I forget to thaw out raw and the dogs have to have a kibble only dinner. My crew eats it happily, mixed in to their regular dinner - but they’re very much NOT picky…

I think it smells really good, too!

That’s the one! Maybe I’ll see if SmartPak will do a sample to see Picky 1 and Picky 2 are interested…they got tired of the green bean diet really fast (replace % of food with green beans…)

My Little Picky likes that stuff a lot, especially if I make it a little moist—turns his kibble into a stew.

Looks like cellulose is in our food also:(
