ANYONE at CULPEPER - SOS - LOST DOG

My husband just called from Culpeper. My daughter’s little West Highland white terrier is missing from the grounds. They were unloading and an accident happened…I guess a falling bag of shavings hit him and he scooted off…IF ANYONE SEES HIM PLEASE HELP…They’ve been looking for a few hours. Across Route 522 and beyond.
His name is Boo and he is the lovey-est little sweetheart.
Thanks

Thank you SO MUCH!!!

No constructive ideas Bertie, and I’m certainly too far away to go looking, but I will have fingers crossed and prayers flying for you and Boo today.

Yea!

Hi! I will email now and call 1st thing my friend who has terriers a short Westie run from Commonwealth. Quite possible he will turn up at her place. She does JR rescue so she’ll know what to do w/ him. Will you please email me your phone number as I don’t have internet access @ work?

Keeping paws crossed. AND FOR GOD’S SAKE DON’T THINK ABOUT THE ROAD! Visualize him coming back to your barn area. Show him where it is! I know it’s crazy, but it can’t hurt now, can it?

I hope he is found safe and secure, Bertie!

I’m sure your family has learned, from this experience, the value of leashing/containing/crating your dog during times when you cannot properly supervise him.

Also, make sure he’s not on the showgrounds with a nice group of folks, who are innocently waiting for him to get claimed! Dogs, sadly, can be fickle. Whoever is feeding them turky sandwiches is, at that time, the only person on the planet!!

Best luck and do keep us updated!

Robby

A terrier is a terrier! My Jack Russells are anyone’s as long as food and affection are involved! I’m so glad that Boo was found.

Now, Bertie, seriously … choke the snot out of your husband and daughter, just for sheer principal. And then insist that Boo is left inside the vehicle (running, with air on) in either his crate or properly restrained with a harness seat belt clip, until the unloading is done. Little dogs running around loose are much more likely to become toe-jam than they are to get lost, but both are horrible things. Once things have settled, Boo can come out, on a leash, and join in the merriment.

Are h/j shows adamant about dogs being leashed? Events really are. I suppose it’s too keep the dogs from pooh-ing on the galloping lanes!

I’m so glad you found Boo!

My barn is there and I’ll let my trainer know when I call her tomorrow morning. Hope he comes home. Please keep us posted!!!

I’m so sorry, I will not be there until Friday but would gladly help in any way possible to find him.

I love a happy ending. I was thinking about Boo when I went to bed and hoping all day that there would be good news. I put my cell number on Fred’s tag (he’s my Black Lab), you never know when the worst could happen, no matter how careful you are, and when you’re traveling your cell # can be the best bet.

Last spring I was visiting my parents and their front door latch malfunctioned. Fred was gone, smelling all those NC springtime smells, in a town not his own and without a map. Nasty snakes everywhere too. Thank God he managed to find his way home, but I was so worried about cars, he’s black and no one would ever see him at night till it was too late.

I’m heading down to Culpeper first thing in the A.M. I printed out a pile of posters to hang in the area. Will take your advice Kryswyn and VISUALIZE the barn – or maybe he’ll recognize the trailer. Anyway, we’re GONNA FIND him!!! Right??? Thanks to you all!

If anyone sees little Boo, please call our barn - 401-934-0272. Thank you so much!

Once I’m on the road, I won’t have computer access, so Please Call if you have any leads. Thanks!

No word from Bertie yet. She has my phone number, so I’m hoping she’ll call with good news soon. I will post as soon as I hear anything.

What Robbie said.

Glad the Boo-ster is okay. Night Watch folks should get a big thank you from all us BBer’s going to Cper this weekend. Imagine how special they’ll feel when 15+ people find them to say, “Hey thanks for keeping Boo safe overnight!”

My prayers are with you Bertie. Boo will find his way, visualize him safe, think hard. The posters are important. One suggestion though, as you are driving around the area if he has a favorite squeeky toy, bring it with you and squeek the heck out of it. Might just elicit a response. Good luck and please tell us what happens. I am a true dog lover and I can only imagine what you are going through right now. Westies are smart resourceful guys, don’t think the worst.

Is he neutored? It is spring time…

Just sending my good thoughts to Bertie and Boo. You’ll find him!

I am such a sucker for happy endings… just thinking what I would be like if our black Lab Lucy was missing, I can sure empathize with what you went through with Boo…

Glad he’s safe and sound…and bathed, to boot!
How sweet of the night watch people

Great Idea heelsdown…I’ve got to find his toy with the bells in it! No, he’s not neutered – so I’ll keep that in mind too - He’s just a babe though, not even a year old yet

Trust a Westie to find someone to take care of him! Evidently, Boo spent the night with the nice NightWatch people in their camper. According to Bertie, it appeared that they’d even given Boo a bath!

YIPPPPPEEEEEEEE!!!

Now here’s hoping all that positive visualization carries over to the show. Wishing Bertie and all the BBers at Culpepper good luck!

to reproduce long before a year. They are quite capable of “the act” (most) by the age of six months, and for sure by one year. I’ll be thinking about you and Boo, but Boo may be trysting…

I am visualizing a happy outcome for you and Boo.
