Anyone buy? sell? adopt? from Brit Le'Brand Farm Warsaw Ohio?

britney in court

unfortunatly we are curently dealing with britney in champaign county court over harassment. Adopted a horse for my 12 yr old daugther for a 4-H project. We were told he was never under saddle but we were willing to take the challenge. She also said that she was considering riding him english herself. The horse has not been sound since the day she dropped him off. I have had a vet do exrays and thourughly checked him out and states the horse is in constant pain and discomfort. He will never be what she said he was. We could use any help from anyone who has dealt with her. I adopted a horse thinking we were doing a good thing, but instead we have had nothing but problems. You can contact me via phone I do not have internet at home. 937-869-4907

So you are only able to sue her for harassment? Not for misrepresenting the horse? I am only curious because I wonder how these things get sorted out – how can we legally stop people like this woman from shady business practices?

I imagine there could be entire “Judge Alex” series on nothing but unscrupulous horse sellers being sued by unhappy buyers.

Just in general – vet check any horse before you buy it, by your own vet or an outside party. If the seller says no, run away. Take someone with you that is knowledgeable and WILL throw that needed bucket of cold water on you when you are making a bad decision. It’s a fact that almost all horse people at some point or another are going to get caught up with a sweet face and buy something unsuitable from a seller who should know better.

go back through this thread, there is contact information for the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office. Also, talk to your county prosecutor’s office to see if there is any possibility of filing fraud charges against B in Champaign County, contact the Ohio AG’s office, consumer protection division, and if you sent her any money through the mail, contact the US Post Office and ask to speak to their fraud division. And finally, hire a lawyer. A really good lawyer, and not one that’s in Coshocton County…good luck to you

Sorry, the last part of your sentence doesn’t make sense, can you please clarify or rephrase? In B’s case, I think the seller does know better and knows exactly what she’s doing…

Partylikearockstar–hope you continue to check this thread: I mailed a copy of every email correspondence I had with Britney to the coshoocton sheriff’s office at the request of the detective working the case. It was the size of a book. Please see if you can utilize all these registered complaints in Coshocton as well as those lodged with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office to fortify your case. Ms. Sturtz’s deceptive practices are on both sides of the deal. Many of the horses she obtains are through deceiving well meaning owners who are looking for a good situation for their horse who needs to be retired due to known physical limitations. sad and shameful–heartbreaking for all of us who fall prey to her lies…it certainly IS time for her to be stopped “officially”…

been ages…

been a while since i have been on here…nothing new on my end from B…i did fond pics of my horses though…how do i put them on here ?

I was checking today and she doesn’t have any horses posted on horsetopia or horseclicks. The rest of them banned her, so I wonder if these ones did too? She’s prob changed her name and county again…LOL. Not sure how to post pics on here.

Mandy, on the opening forum page, go to the Help Topics thing under all the forum names, you should be able to find info on how to post your pix.

Trailqueen, maybe B finally “moved out of state”… baaaahaaaaahaaaaaa!

She’s still around…

…but wishing she wasn’t.

darn…that’s a shame

Does she use PayPal? If so, alert PayPal that she is using their service to commit fraud. They do take an interest in documentable situations like this. You may also find out if she is using the US Postal service, and alert FBI that you strongly suspect wire fraud, as I believe using USPS to commit financial fraud falls under that category.

to quote dingbat: “been there, done that”. USPS has been informed, and I don’t think she does Paypal. Most of her payments involve money orders, which of course reinforce the anonymity of her “activities”. I do not know if USPS is aware of the scope of her “activities”, but yes, they have been informed by a number of B victims of the use of USPS services to mail her checks/money orders/cash. And the Coshocton County Sheriff and Prosecutor’s Office are aware of her “activities”.

A very good suggestion though…

These kind of people are hard to stop

It amazes me how good, responsible horse owners sometimes take hits for things that non-horse people see as “cruel” or “bad for the horse”. The horse owners who are irresponsible or the ones who jerk people around are the ones who always seem to get away with it. I don’t know if there is a way to stop those people. They always seem to find a way around things. BTW, is there an update on the phone harassment case?

yup, she’s still around, at least for a short while, on this otherwise upstanding website. Here’s the ad for “Fancy Mover”:

http://www.postad360.com/classifieds/oh/view-198500-109/fancy-mover-broodmare-eventing-h-j-prospect-with-endless-potential-800-coshocton.html

looks a bit ribby to me…

Doesn’t look bad compared to others

That mare looks pretty good compared to the three horses of hers I personally saw. There were excuses for why they were thin, like they were hard keepers or she “repoed” one & it just wasn’t gaining weight. Funny how when I fed them, they put on weight quickly.

“Sun Rea” is back- In talking with her previous owner, seems she was best suited to be a broodmare. She was to be “retired” to Britney… Now she’s fit for “low level dressage”? and the story continues…just when is that last chapter gonna be written?

Fit for low level dressage?

I guess that’s what happens when she doesn’t carry a pregnancy. The mare is sweet with a few quirks and she needed some groceries, but in no way did she look like she was fit to be ridden in a program. How can this girl be stopped??? She’s expanding her problems by breeding more horses and she can’t even feed the ones she already has.

I had to laugh…she apologizes in her ad for “Houdini” regarding the fact that when the pics were taken he was “shedding out”…sooo…what about the pic with the flies all over its face?? Ever heard of putting some fly spray on a rag and wiping his face? oh, and some horse feed with supplements might be good too along with some wormer- they usually shed out more uniformly when they’re healthier…my horses NEVER looked that poor-spring,summer,fall OR winter! Of course, I only had what I could PROPERLY take care of.

umm

I just posted a wanted ad on dreamhorse.com for a horse for lease, and a lady named Britney replied with the email address equinejumper21@rocketmail.com. Well, I wanted to research her before agreeing to any kind of lease agreement, and this is what came up. I’m just wondering if I have the right person. She says she was in school and living in coshocton, OH. The horse seems nice but sketchy. saying that she was evented two years ago, but has not been ridden and had an absess not too long ago. Someone please help, as I don’t want to get involved with anyone shady or sketchy…
