Ah Britney, the plague that just keeps on showing up…
I am just an unsuspecting person who bought an aussie from Belle Greye Haven Stable Aussies. Her name is indeed, B. Her contract came after the deposit. I had no idea that I would need to sign a contract. Yes, i should have done some more research, I agree. She acted like if I didn’t jump I would not get the dog my child wanted. I could not get my deposit back, contract said so, so I went forward. Now I am not sure that I got what I paid for and she wants to send the registration papers to me and I will have to pay for it and her ad says that the puppies are registered. It has been almost a year and no papers. Everything was misleading. I hooked her up with a friend of mine, before I knew this information and B kept slapping her with ridiculous fines. B makes you spay or neuter your puppy and if you don’t do it on time, you have to pay her fines.
She charges $950. but then she charges you another $700 if you want to breed your puppy. I sure wish I would have done my homework first.
Buyer beware!
Ya know, years ago I wanted to get into breeding pure Siamese cats…don’t ask why, I just did. But after seeing how nutso these people are with contacts, I walked away without buying anything. $600 for a purebred if spayed and under contract to be made so, $1600 for a queen kept intact? Sorry, but if I am BUYING an animal from you, it’s MINE. MINE to spay, neuter, show, whatever have you. If you want all, some or none of those things to happen, then keep it yourself. The sooner people stop buying into people’s lines of bull with their “contracts” about how, where, when, and what will happen with “their” animals that are being sold, the sooner this world will become a saner place. An agreement done reasonably for rights of first refusal on a buyback is one thing, all this other stuff is just pure BS. Let them keep their animals awhile and see how soon they start selling them off with no strings attached! If they really want to make money and are not hoarders, they will!
On that deposit, I would have taken her to small claims and said too bad, so sad on the puppy. How can you not get a deposit back if you don’t know you can’t get it back because you didn’t get the contract until AFTER the deposit was made???
The contract states that if the puppy is not going to be fixed a letter from our Vet needs to be presented and we did just that. She said that she is not going to accept our vets recommendation to wait until the pup reaches his first birthday. She insisted that we bring the pup to her vet and we will have to pay for it. She has been calling my mother and getting her all upset. This EVIL person has to be stopped. She claims that she will come get the puppy tomorrow if we don’t bring the dog to her vet (2 hour drive) and she stated that we can not have her arrested for trespassing. She has no common sense and she has no compassion for the animals that she sells.
I realize this is an old post and the poster lives in another state, so maybe things are different where you are, but I doubt it…you can throw anyone off your property you like. Maybe she wouldn’t be arrested per se, but I sure would be having the sheriff throw her out. Lawsuit or no. Nobody tells me they’re coming onto my property on such-and-such a day and telling me what to do.
There are several horses listed on a local Cincinnati Horse page on Facebook by this person. Actually not her, someone else posted them and it lists her as the contact person…
You gotta love the ad for “Linus”, who is for sale and who she “won’t allow” to return to showing. Really? REALLY? I hope nobody signs a contract to that effect! I personally don’t know anyone running around looking for a warmblood to just trail ride…
RubyTuesday, you’ll be very happy to know that the Justadreamer thread had a happy ending, B chickened out on showing up when she knew the local constabulary was watching for her.
Britney is a whacko bird who unconscionably continues to rip people off using innocent animals, and she just will not go away or change her tune. Thank heavens for this thread, which continues to go strong after all these years and is ALWAYS the first couple of hits when someone runs a Britney Sturtz search on Google…at least now the word is out and cautious potential victims can try to avoid the heartache of dealing with this nut by doing some basic homework.
My fear is that next, she’ll run for Congress

Good lord - she just might win.
Ha–dogontired! YIKES at just the thought…she has a silver tongue when it suits her–clearly a qualitfication to play ball in today’s political arena. My hope and prayer as always remains–that she will turn around and utilize her persuasive gifting for good instead of evil BUT if she wll not turn from her dishonest ways–that some brave and bold soul with the authority to do so will protect the world of humans, equines, and canines from her and shut her down.
she’s baaacckkk…
or perhaps never left, just went further underground. Quarter Horse Congress opens this weekend in Columbus OH this weekend, and I am confident that our Miss B will have her Belle Greye Haven aussie puppies-for-sale booth all set up in Puppy Alley. So in an effort to give innocent victims/I mean purchasers of those puppies and the horses she has listed on sites like horsefinders.com a heads up, here’s an interesting article on how to avoid Internet sales scams:

Thanks for posting. If I remember accurately, she left a few wounded unwary puppy purchasers after the last Congress. I guess there is no background check for vendors?
puppy alley
no, no background check whatsoever. There was a complaint filed with the Ohio AG’s Office a year or so ago from some woman in SW PA who took one of B’s puppies home from Congress and it tested positive for Parvo.
Beth Sturtz aka Miss B’s mummy
oh look, mummy is helping with posts to sell the babies…
do you think this is a clever way to cover your trail?
mommy dearest
I saw where Beth Sturtz is selling the dogs now. After reading the ad, it makes it sound like the puppies do everything but walk on water…lol. Honestly, I was at a humane society recently and saw pups that were just as nice, smart and absolutely beautiful! How about buying from a shelter for less than $200 instead of buying into their delusional world? That puppy would LOVE you FOREVER and doesn’t come with the Sturtz name attached…

Yep- they were apparently at congress today. britney’s dad had his name in the paper for delinquent property taxes so I’m wondering if they were there trying to get rid of their 2 Aussie pups…
I bought an Australian Shepherd from this woman also. I am looking for people that have had problems with this person. I am having problems getting my papers from her. I want to stop this and need any help I can get. If you or anyone else wants to contact me please do. I am tired of dealing with this woman and getting nowhere. Please if you bought an aussie from her and had problems contact me asap!

Your best bet is to read through the entire thread here and see what others have done before you. I saw your post on the other Miss B thread on COTH and recommended contacting the Ohio Attorney General’s office, consumer protection division.
Almost all of us on this thread have been ripped off by this wingnut in the horse world, so I’m not sure how much help you will be able to glean from these Chronicle Forums. However, you can file your own report on ripoffreport.com, and perhaps that will get you a broader audience in the dog world.
Good to keep info out there for people.
Well I will do whatever I have to do to let people know about this. Noone should do business this way. It gives good dog breeders bad names!
PLEASE - Do post on the rip-off report site; Do contact Coshocton Sheriff’s Office-they have a file on her. (I mailed them 30 pages of all my correspondence with her–all her deceit in print; DO contact the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. It’s my hope eventually the scales will tip in favor of protecting the consumer against her unethical practices and when that happens think of all the horses and pupipies-the pawns in her scam who will be spared. Add your voice to our collective scream for help!
