If anyone has done Ride Between The Rivers in WV I would love some insight on the trail? How does it compare to say the Fort Valley or OD trails?
Thanks in advance!
Did you ask on the Endurance FB pages too?
I have never done it, but it is on my list to try! It has to be less rocky than OD! Heat I think can be the biggest factor (like any VA summer ride) but I believe they have some river crossings too…
I’ll be watching for replies or your report after riding it
Yes, I posted on there too. So far I’ve got one answer… it’s say “it’s rocky” lmao! I’m excited to go- I’ve heard they put on a fantastic ride. At the moment, the high for Saturday is supposed to be 69 which is amazing!!
I have never done the ride (not interested during that time of year) but if you go back to the old Ridecamp forum on the Endurance Yahoo group, you can find some good info on the Ride Between The Rivers from years past.
Here’s a blog post from 2016 - a dressage rider doing the 30 on a borrowed Morab. Part 1 is typical dressage angst (meaning: don’t bother reading it, your eyes will get tired from all your eyerolling); Part 2 is where she talks about the trail. It seemed more realistic coming from an “outsider”, so you do get a flavor. Unfortunately, no comparison with the OD June trail, but I doubt anything can be more horrific with rocks than that.
What did you think @tabula rashah ? I heard it was pretty muddy this year…
