In trying to get the word out about our tack swap, I announced it on FB but since I don’t belong to many FB groups, it’s been kinda hard. If anyone on here is from the PA/WVA/Ohio general Steel Valley area, could you please recommend some FB groups for me to join? Not just to announce the tack swap but to actually become part of some local-ish groups. My general search on FB hasn’t turned up much, but then I am still re-learning FB lol
I like and regularly check out the Facebook page “Pittsburgh Area Equestrians”. Less traffic on “Western PA Equine Events” Facebook page, but would be suitable for posting a tack swap. There is also “Western PA Equestrians” Facebook page.
Sorry, forgot the Facebook page “Mountain Valley Trail Riders”.
I’m taking notes. I always feel completely out of touch with local horsey stuff.
Central PA Horseman slides into the Pittsburgh area sometimes and there are some that would travel to a tack swap. Where I live there seems to be NO horsey stuff!!!
Thanks guys I will look up those groups a bit later and pass on the word. I am new to this area (been here a little over a year) and sometimes want to kick myself for moving here. There isn’t much of an eventing scene out here without having to travel hours away, mostly h/j, trail riders and lots and lots of barrel racers. So I am hoping to connect with people via FB to find out more about somewhat local events too.
Another good resource is the events page on Darby Downs website, if you’re looking for shows and clinics. There is also the Northeast Ohio mini trial association if you’re looking to connect with folks and farms geared towards eventing. Stone Gate Farm, not too far over the Ohio border, has a recognized event coming up quickly. You csn also check out the WPDA website to learn more about dressage related things going on in the area. There are things to do in the area, you just have to know where to look…
Oh, just because I’m excited about it, the Sewickley Hunter Pace is this Sunday. They have a website, but they are also advertising it on the first Facebook page that I mentioned.
Lutherlyn Stables, up near your neck of the woods, has a mini trial scheduled for September 14.
Coventry Equestrian Center has a schooling dressage show scheduled for September 21 and Bloomfield Stables has a schooling hunter show that same day.
Creekside Stables in Blairsville has a ride a test in October check their website. There is actually quite a few eventers in the area and you will discover them as you search around for things to do.
I’m in NE OH about an hour from Pittsburgh. I belong to the NE Ohio Online Tack Swap and Horses and Tack for Sale in the Ohio Valley Area. I just joined both so I haven’t ever posted anything but I have a lot of tack that I need to sell to clean out my tack room. When and where is this swap?
