Anyone else humbled by their horse lately?

Me!!! I set off to teach one of my guys to stand in the wash rack quietly as he dances about normally.

I accidentally turned on the hot water to full blast and the cold on 1/4 way when I normally do it the opposite.

Turns out he stands perfectly, licks and chews, when you use hot water. Not warm but hot water.

He’s training me well.

I learn something new every day.

My 4 year old mustang doesn’t do coercion of any kind. She’ll hop into the trailer so fast that you have to get out of her way, as long as you don’t use a chain or have anyone standing behind her. If you do, she’ll plant her feet and refuse to move.

I learned the same thing with my horse a while ago. I felt like such an a** for spraying her with lukewarm water all the time when all she wanted was a nice hot bath.

My horse is ready to call EPS (Equine Protective Services) on me - we only have cold water option at the new place and even in 90+ degree weather she wants her water AT LEAST warm! She loves winter/cold weather, but cold water is a big fat NO.

Poor child, so tortured…such a hard life…only grass 24/7, organic feed tailored to her needs, her own stall to eat in, organic hay when needed…torturous…

Our last cutting horse came from a barn in Texas where the wash rack was like a car wash. Different spigots gave you warm water, cold water, liniment, shampoo and conditioner. When she came north with us I think she was a little horrified by the hose lying on the ground. Lol!
She did learn to love the snow, so that was a bonus.

I thought it was just my horse that couldn’t do cold baths! sigh A new hot water heater is on my list.

How could you, you monster! /s

You would think a cool hose off would feel nice in hot weather, but my horse agrees with yours that warm/hot water is the only way to go.
