Anyone flown their horse on Fedex via Brookledge as agent

Hi,

Planning on flying my horse on Fedex across the country. Portland to South Carolina. Brookledge is the booking agent. Would love to hear about the experiences doing this. Getting to the tarmac with horse trailer, how freaked out might a horse get with that noise? What about your tack boxes, do you send them on the plane with an extra charge, or mail them separate if that is even possible? What about hay etc? Brookledge told me I only have the space I rent. So if I rent an entire stall, I can divide in half and use half for trunks etc. But unless its a solid panel to protect horse from tack box on wheels, that could be a problem on take off, landing? Did you stay for the loading? If you tranqed your horse any recommendations for something that helps a horse with anxiety but also keeps them upright and safe during flight? I appreciate any tips from your experience. My horse is a reluctant trailer loader and is not a fan of loud noise, so I will consider ear balls, and a some sort of tranq that just takes the edge off , if that exists…

I’ve shipped horses on planes in several different ways. When we’ve loaded the horse directly from the trailer to the plane, on the tarmac, it’s been an out of the way, quite location. The horses have always been well traveled and walked up the ramp fine. That’s not usually how they do it for a FedEx flight, though.

Those horses usually get loaded on a pallet in a different area and transported to the plane by a mover. Most horses handle the shipping well, even young ones and super fit TBs. The people doing the shipping are professionals and have a ton of experience.

If you can afford to do half a pallet for the horse and use the other half to ship your stuff, that would give your horse the most comfortable ride, vs doing three horses to a pallet. That can get really pricey, though. They offer water on the flight and you can pack a hay net for your horse to nibble.

Thanks for the tips! And the FedX video really helped to show the size of the horse container. I will be getting a full container, just wondering if when split the wall is solid , Brookledge should be able to tell me.
