Anyone have a KEP helmet? Looking for opinions on them or other brands.

Tried one at a trade show and really liked it. CO do not fit the rider. GPA is OK. But like the looks of the KEP and the design and also the interchangeable liners and how easy they are to clean. Thinking maybe 2 different size liners, one for hair down and one for hair up? Just a bit leery of this whole idea of the 2 “shell” sizes being the only sizes available and then you pick your liner size. Convenient if it actually offers the correct protection but am wondering how effective it is.

Feedback on this helmet anyone? Or maybe some of the other non GPA or CO helmets such as LAS or Samshield etc? This is mainly for the jumper ring but will have to be used occasionally in the hunter ring too.

Look at the OneK’s. They have interchangable liners that snap in/out easily and you could get two different sizes.

I just got the matte black helmet too and I’m in love:

I was the same as your rider and do not fit in the CO, and the GPA was only mediocre. I was prepared to spend up to around $600 and the OneK fit better than anything else I was able to put on my head, so that’s what I bought.

I have a Samshield that I absolutely adore. I have 2 different sized liners for hair up/hair down, and I love that flexibility, and both sizes feel absolutely rock solid on my head. So I don’t think you can go wrong with the one-shell-size, two-liner-size system as long as the two liner sizes you need fit into the same size shell. Also, the Samshields don’t touch your forehead. After years of having a permanent dent in my forehead (from my old pre-GPA SpeedAir GPAs), it’s a totally novel feeling! And more vented than even my other favorite helmet (the GPA SpeedAir).

But I also have an Ovation Schooler that I now wear almost all of the time at home (and sometimes at shows). It has the dial-to-fit system and I’ve completely fallen in love with that even more than the 2-liners in my Samshield.

Samshield and oneK are both made on the same shell so just pick your favorite look. Both are great helmets and I found fit me better than both the gpa and CO, unfortunately I stuck with the gpa because I looked like a mushroom in the samshield.

This is not true, according to my tack store. I don’t fit in the One K - it’s not oval enough - but I fit in the Samshield. I was told that they’re made in the same factory, but they’re not actually the same shell. Sucks for me, that’s an extra $200 I have to spend to get the right fit.
