Anyone have any experience with a Stubben Parzival All purpose saddle?

Looking for a new saddle with more of a close contact equitation style but enough flap that I will be able to shorten my stirrups for the higher jumps. I have come across a few Stubben Parzivals in my price range but can’t find a lot of information on them. Seems as if everything I am finding is in Europe and not really any reviews.
The saddle looks like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stubben-Parzival-Elite-CS-Jumping-Saddle-17-5-Inch-29cm-/321199982928.
Does anyone have any information. Is this a decent saddle for the lower levels? TIA

Stubben Parzival is a certain type of leather. It’s a range of saddles that come in several different types. I believe that Stubben used the general Siegfried tree for their All Purpose jumping saddle. Had a friend with one who used his for foxhunting.

Yes, the Parzival is not a particular model but rather a leather type. You’ll find lots of old Parzival all-purpose and dressage saddles for sale used. The one you want, the close-contact jumping saddle, is a nice model, but you might have a hard time finding one in the US.

I have had a parzival, it is a double layer leather, with the outer layer very soft leather that breaks in easily, light padding inbetween the layers…and is just too thick and too much saddle in between rider and horse to be nice to jump in
The soft outer layer wears out easily. Very comfortable saddles, great to trail ride in.

We have a 30 year old parzival AP. We don’t really use it all that much anymore but it is still a good saddle. The flap was forward enough for both me and my mom to jump in easily although with a seat of only 17" I outgrew it as I have a longer thigh than she does. If it fits it would definitely get the job done

LOVELOVELOVE the Parzival! Back in the day, when I was doing the Jumpers, my mother bought me one in 1970, second hand, when my Stubben Sigfried was stolen. It is the same saddle as Sigfried but with smooth leather. OMG, it is heavenly. I then evented in it until about 1995 when I handed it off to my daughter. She competed in it till it really started to wear thin and bought herself a second one on ebay. Most comfy, fits almost everyone, wool flocking so it is easy to adjust if necessary.

I have an ancient one as well, it’s the one that is that weird color. It is my go to saddle still for young horses and xc (albeit my xc is lower level). I just seem to stay in it pretty well. Love it.

I really like Stubben’s in general. The Parzivals are really nice.

I have one for sale…

I guess if this is not allowed it’ll get deleted?!

I have a 1985 Parzival A/P.
I did H/J, dressage & evented (up to Training) & rode trails in it.
Jumped up to 4’ in it & rode 3rd Level movements w/o any problems.

It was my only saddle for all those years and fit all my horses up till now.
It is still in great shape & I’d be riding in it today if it fit my current horse.

I have one for sale on ebay as well, in a similar price range and in the US. Mine is a close contact, flat seat. In case you’re interested: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Saddle-Stubben-17-seat-/121231970219

It really is a great saddle. I just needed a wider one for my monster. The leather is very supple and it has a nice close contact because of the flat seat. To me, at least, it isn’t bulky at all. Stubbens tend to have lots of wither room too, which can be hard to find in some of the French saddles. I liked it so much that when I needed a new saddle, I bought a new Stubben Roxanne.

That’s a beautiful saddle and looks like just what the OP is looking for.
