Anyone have experience with Tekna Saddles?

I was wondering if anyone had experience with Tekna saddles. They are new to the US, seem to be very popular in Austrailia and Europe: http://vichorse.com/forum/index.php?t=msg&th=107399&start=0&S=3cb1a02d215b92099c0214a4f0cf5222
and http://www.equestrian.org.au/default.asp?Page=20185.

They are synthetic, but by the photos they are the most gorgeous synthetics I have ever seen! I like the idea of the tree, too - available in widths but adjustable by an authorized dealer with a heat unit to any measurement, kinda like Prestige, from my understanding.

I am excited about them because I have a good jumping saddle, but would love to get an inexpensive dressage saddle to dabble with. I kinda like the looks of the horse boots too!

Their website is here: http://teknasaddlery.com/. Interested to hear opinions!

Nobody? I was looking to get the dressage model, my tack shop said they should be in stock in a month or so…

I sat in one the other day and it put me in perfect position (dressage saddle). I didn’t have to fight it and it seem really secure without trapping me in the saddle. Granted, this was on a saddle buck at the store, but I’ll be looking for a demo to try on my horse soon (have to save up a bit first).

I, too, would like some info on them if anyone has any to give.

No experience, but they look really nice.

I know this is an old thread, but for what it’s worth, I just got a Tekna LeTek saddle. Pros: It looks great (everything the eye can see while mounted is grippy leather), I like the placement of the stirrup bars (nice forward seat), has a wide twist (I am more comfortable with a wide twist), easy to feel the horse underneath you, has a truly easy-to-use interchangeable gullet system, is light as a feather, features wool and foam flocking that is fully re-flockable if neccessary, has a nice wide channel for the horse’s spine, rides comfortably (I hunted for a couple hours the other morning), and it is at a very affordable price point. Cons: If you ride big or wide horses, it may not work for you…even with the exchangeable gullet…I have the extra wide plate in and it just fits the draft crosses I ride. Maybe it was designed with super-lean thoroughbred types in mind…? It is a shallow-moderate seat depth and so it does not offer that super secure feeling. The adjustable knee rolls and thigh blocks are not impressive, in my uneducated opinion. I had an old Crosby for a hot minute once and the LeTek rides something like the Crosby did…sort of spartan, but not uncomfortable. All in all, I quite like it and am very glad to have it. I feel like it improves my seat and my riding muscles, but occasionally I miss that safely-cradled feeling of my trainer’s fancy saddles. If you have a tight budget or are in a leasing situation, I think the pros far outweigh the cons and I would recommend the Tekna saddles. Also saw one consigned in a tack shop today…it was an older/all-synthetic model, but it held up beautifully and the faux-leather actually looked like the real deal. It was one of the best looking saddles in the shop!!

Thanks for the feedback KarenDD. I just spied these the other day. I had my tailbone removed and looking for something with a wider seat that supports my seatbones better (and takes some of the pressure off the surgical area). My current saddle is treeless and although nicely cushy, seems to sit me right on the tender area. I’m not sure returning to riding is in the cards but I am only out about 13 weeks from the surgery so I must be patient and I want to try a few saddles before I throw in the towel for good. I don’t want to spend a fortune either.
I’m all for synthetic and appreciate the lighter weight in my old(er) age.
