Anyone hunt with Guilford?

I’m in Amherst, and that seems to be the closest hunt to me…however, the website is down (main page works, but none of the links to other pages) and I would love to hear more about the hunt…what I need as far as attire, what sort of “low key” events are available this summer/early fall, what pricing is like, etc.

Also, I’d love to find a buddy who doesn’t mind holding my hand! I have a big, brave horse who is the perfect gentleman in company of any speed, and he’s a quick, smart, sure-footed fellow who I know would absolutely love to get out with a hunt. I am just a sissy and don’t like to be the kid standing awkwardly by myself in the corner.

I have a two horse warmblood trailer and will even offer up some free trailer rides if that’s useful for coaxing someone into baby sitting me!

Thirty views and nobody wants to babysit me? I promise I won’t embarrass anyone! I’m a capable rider, with a well-behaved horse, we have the dark flat tack already and the fitted pad. I just want a buddy!

I’m in VA. I’ve viewed twice. I’ll babysit you in VA if you come down this way!
:lol::lol:

I’m afraid I don’t know anything about Guilford, and I don’t see them on the mfha site…but you may want to check out Tanheath Hunt, in northeastern CT. I attended their intro to foxhunting clinic at Tryon Farm (they’re having another this year) and everyone was very nice and welcoming.
I don’t have a trailer myself but I’m in CT…if you want to stand in a corner together one day at Tanheath, and you’re willing to drive the bus, send me a p.m., we can talk

I’ve seen them go through my area before, and they do have an active website, the links I want just don’t work.

I am going to take you up on the Tanheath Hunt offer, if I can work my schedule out…I’ll send you a PM!

I’m with Old Chatham on the Mass border in NY. We love newbies and never let anyone stand in the corner by themselves!
Almost ready to begin cubbing.

I hunt with Old North Bridge in Concord. Try posting on the Area 1 website for eventing… I believe they have a healthy group of eventers that hunt with them. I’ll also see if I can get you a contact…

Guilford Hounds here!

Hello GoForAGallop,

I am Gregory Kittredge, Master and Huntsman for Guilford Hounds. I just happened to stumble upon your post as I do not frequent COTH very often.

I am terribly sorry to hear that you are having issues with our website, I will look into it right away.

Amherst, Ma is a stones throw from our Deerfield, Ma fixtures and an easy drive up I-91 to get to our other fixtures. We basically hunt within 30 minutes from any exit off I-91. Our closest member to you is in Conway, Ma. I bet we can easily find you a buddy to help you along.

Please feel free to contact me directly at home 603 835 6292. I will be delighted to assist you in any questions you have and to help point you in the correct direction. We are a fun group and I would be delighted to welcome you aboard!

Please do contact me.

Greg

Hi Greg, I responded to your PM! So looking forward to speaking to you!

You keep that hunt going, Greg, I’m moving there in two years. I’m presently building my hobby farm in Acworth, the next town over. I’m a member of Bull Run Hunt now (which I’ll keep going so I’ll have somewhere to hunt in the winter!) but the existence of Guilford Hounds is what sealed the deal for the Acworth property.

Less than two years before retirement. The suspense is killing me…

GoForAGallop, the Guilford Hounds are a very friendly, welcoming bunch indeed, and I say this as a more, um, low budget rider with a non-traditional breed. I’m sure Greg can sort you out and find you a buddy.

Regarding the website issues, I suspect you’ll find that if you delete “null” where it appears on unloadable pages and reload you’ll be able to access them. (E.g. http://guilfordhounds.com/nullhistory.html --> http://guilfordhounds.com/history.html)

Glad to hear it!

Actually, more of the website is working today than yesterday, so it seems like someone is on the case! The Fixtures page is a no go, even deleting the “null”, but I have an email into Greg and I’m sure, as you said, that he’ll be more than helpful!

I have been a guest with Guilford and they are a lot of fun! soooo welcoming. GREAT hounds, too.

feel free to PM me and we can discuss meeting up there this fall.
