Anyone jump in a Pessoa?

I am looking for a new or used jumping saddle for my new horse. I have an old Pessoa heritage that I use on another horse. It has a changeable gullet and I put a narrower gullet in it but it still seems wrong for the new horse, like now it is not the right angle, but he is building his top line and this will change. I have noticed that the newer Pessoa’s have AMS panels flocked with a “synthetic” wool and a layer of neoprene. They are said to be consistent layer of support–yada, yada built on a flexible carbon fibre tree.

It all sounds good. Anyone have one? Can you actually have it reflocked to fit your horse?

I just want a comfortable saddle for both of us for low level jumpers and eventing. So many are mono flaps and I don’t think I really need one of those. A lot of them have big honking knee and thigh blocks and I am not sure I need really big ones. So . . .?

Wow! No one jumps in a Pessoa?

I tried a new one. But it was too curvy for my horse and rocked. So I’m no help here. Definitely they are not Passiers, County’s, or Stubbens. Or French foam.

I have an older generation Pessoa. 2000’s era. No changeable gullet. Definitely not flocked. Definitely doesn’t fit my horse but it’s not the worst saddle in the world. The channel is too narrow. I’m also in the midst of saddle shopping. The Pessoa absolutely makes it harder for me to keep my leg at the girth in a defensive position. It wants to slide back despite my massive effort to keep it there. I remember one time I did a big 3 foot Oxer and the entire stirrup leather came off because of the angle my leg was in over the jump. Yeah I ate dirt. It’s what I’ve been riding in as a teenager, I bought it brand new. It’s also a 16.5 inch so it’s too small for me. I don’t mind mono flap saddles. I have the Dover event saddle coming in to try.

My daughter rides in one and loves it.

I’ve ridden in one of the newer ones and thought I was a great saddle. I far preferred it to a Stubben balance wise. It wasn’t quite as lovely as my BC or a Voltaire but that’s probably more to do with the leather than the balance. I would highly recommend if it fits your horse. It had a nice forward flap.
