I have an open bay in my barn that’s 8x8 (not sure on height, maybe 14’ to the trusses?) Any idea how many small squares will fit in that area?
two-string bales which usually measure around 14” high x 18” wide x 35” long and weigh 50-60 lbs .
if so, no matter how you stack it there is room that will not be used, I really do not believe you want to stack to the rafters but if you did you could put around 144 of the "standard’ size bales in that area figuring 12 per layer then stacked 12 high
I stack(well, hayguy does ) 300 small squares in a 12X12 area.
Sized approximately as @clanter described.
I do stack above the rafters, which are set @ 10’ - maybe 2 bales high above the 10’ mark, stacked to the peak.
Make sure to pack tightly, stack in steps, no spaces between bales, so you can safely climb to get topmost bales down safely.
Thanks guys! I’m hoping to fit 120, sounds like that should be doable?
If I can store 120 there instead of my usual spot, it’ll make unloading and stacking much, much easier.
it easier if you remember you have THAT very important thing that must be done Now as the hay arrives
I fit 80, stacked by me and I stink . I do use pallets to keep it off the ground, except for the first 2 rows that I go through relatively quickly.
