Anyone ride in their Dublin river boots?

I have a pair of Dublin river boots which I love. I love the look of them so much I wear then everywhere…except the barn. I don’t wat to ruin them and get them dirty. I’m warming up to the idea of using them in the barn, but I’m not sure how I feel about riding in them. Are they comfortable? For some reason I imagine they will pinch because they’re not quite tall enough. Is this just in my head? How do they feel when riding?

i only ride in mine. my only complaint is that the belharra i used on my saddle rubbed off on them… half of it is a pretty patina, the other is not. they’re great for schooling, but if you have a longer stirrup for dressage they can be a little short.

I ride in mine all the time. Sometimes they meet the bottom of the saddle flap (long legs) and bother me a little, but other than that they’re great!

I ride in them all the time

I guess you’re not supposed to as they are a yard boot traditionally from the appearance of them but I ride in them and see people riding in them all the time…. ok so not for anything more than a hack or school work but none the less, they are fine. I think they do shorter ones but not river. Get mine from here, great service from there guys… http://www.totalhorse.co.uk/products/new-dublin-river-boots

Yes, I ride in mine, and as I have short legs, they actually fit me better than any tall boot I’ve ever worn.

I’ve been riding in them in the winter every ride–they’re much warmer than my regular paddock boots.

The River boots are a little short if I’m riding in a very long stirrup, but for most riding they’re fine and very comfortable.

I have been doing barn chores and riding in mine since the temps hit the mid 40’s and below. I have even worn them to town for errands and to dinner (at a local sports bar).

They are leather and clean up very easily.

I have never had my feet feel warm all day out doing chores and riding until I found these boots.

They are a bit short, but for the warmth I’m willing to overlook that.

Yes. They are not ideal, but sometimes it’s just too damn cold and I don’t want to take off my warm and comfy boots to put on my actual schooling boots.

^ What coloredhorse said. I rode in mine a fair bit last winter for this very reason. This year I purchased Muck boot tall riding boots so I could put them on when I left the house and keep them on until I got back. When I rode in them, I didn’t usually do more than light flatwork, but they were comfortable enough.

My riding buddy rides in her’s all the time. They are about 2 years old and still in good shape. She is quite tall and has never complained about them being too short. I ride in mine too, usually in the winter as I find them a little too warm to wear in warmer weather.

All the time in the winter! I can fit more pairs of socks in them!

I’ve galloped and jumped XC in them perfectly fine, but also find them a little short to ride in my dressage length stirrups. They have a heel that makes them stirrup safe. I’ve found that they’re very comfortable, but they don’t offer as close of a feel. I still ride in them, but my trainer will not due to this.

I ride in mine all the time. The only problem I’ve had is that I gained weight, then lost weight, so the ankles began to droop and tore the stitches. I was able to get them re-sewn for $20!
