She was my wonderful early teacher when she lived in Jersey and owned an Arabian stallion named Pavanne, and she was just starting to get into dressage. Last I knew, she was living in North Carolina. I’m not on Facebook. What little I see on the Web shows that she went on to be a high-level dressage rider and, I believe judge. Would love to say hello to her again, even if she doesn’t remember me from 1,000 years ago, to thank her.
I think you mean Susie Weidman.
Yes, she is in NC and rides, trains, teaches and gives clinics. She and her clients go to almost every show, have a ball, support everyone and are delightful to be around! Susie stopped judging several years ago preferring to teach and train.
Since you aren’t on FB, here is a link to her farm website:
I’m sure she’d love to hear from you.
Oooo, @eggbutt! What a coincidence. Similar name but not the same person, unless for some reason she’s changed her first name. Here’s something I found on Sharon:
L.A. BALTIC SUNBURST
L.A. BALTIC SUN X PRI RABDA KUHAYLAH (Arab),
by ANSATA HALMA SON
Bred by Los Alamos Dressage Center
Owned and ridden by Sharon Weidman.
USDF All Breed Award, 1st at Second Level.
Sharon and Susie are two different people.
I used to see Sharon all the time at USDF shows when I was Susie’s assistant…but I have not shown in several years
Wow! Fascinating! I obviously don’t know Sharon!
I have known Sharon as a breeder and owner only. So you may not have seen her name in ride times/results. Her horses always seemed to be stabled by Susie’s… probably due to the last name.
OP I am not sure how to get in touch with her these days. I’m no longer on Facebook either!
I used to ride at a farm near Los Alamos many years ago, in the early 90s. I’ll ask a friend from the same area and see if she knows who and where she is; the horse world is small and my friend seems to know everyone.
My trainer was at Park Place Equestrian Center, behind The Cabin restaurant on Route 33. Were you around that area?
There is a Sharon Weidman on FB but the most recent post on her page is from 2015. According to her page she lives in Cedar Grove, NC. So maybe that’s a place to start to try to get in touch with her? There’s a lovely picture of a chestnut dressage horse (well, possibly a bay).
Good luck! I hope you find her.
Uh-uh. This was 40 years ago in group lessons in Somerset County. Great memories.
