I’m looking for hauler recommendations and what you paid per mile.

This might not be super helpful because it was probably 5 years ago but a friend of mine used Brook Ledge to move her horse from SC to CA. She got a box stall and it was about $3500. She said it was a great experience and she would use them again.

I shipped in Aug 2018 with Equine Express and they were wonderful. It cost $3600 for a box stall from Boston to Los Angeles.
There was a stopover at their facility in Texas which was supposed to be a day but ended up being almost 3 days due to bad weather. They texted me photos each day and hand-walked my horse for me.
Horse arrived 7 days after leaving Boston, and was perfectly happy stepping off the trailer. He had lost a little weight, but not much, and didn’t seem agitated in the slightest.

I shipped almost halfway across in December 2020. The price was a flat 1000, which really worked out to about a dollar a mile. That was on the cheap end. I’d have expected to pay more, but the horse was basically on a repositioning move of a big stock trailer owned by a commercial shipper that was a friend of the breeder’s. Horse was on it for three days, in the front box stall. He came off fine, but it was a rough trip mostly because the shipper was right at the leading edge of a nasty and cold storm and had to stop at one point because of it. And the horse had never been off the farm before in his life!
I’d expect to pay at least a dollar and a half per mile. Possibly more if gas and diesel continue to go up.

Approximately how much did that run you?
The quotes were in the $3.5-$6k range.

I got quotes from VA to CA a month ago from Brook Ledge, Equine Express, Johnson’s and Bob Hubbard for trucking, and Tex Sutton for a flight.
I ended up buying a horse in NC and going with Brook Ledge and a box stall for $3400 ($1.21/mile) - they picked up my new horse on Saturday morning and she arrived late Tuesday looking perfect.

I got a quote from Equine Express about a month ago for Las Vegas to New Jersey—$2,775 for 1.5-stall, $3,075 for full stall, with layover at their facility in Texas.
