This seems like JUST what I am looking for! Anyone use them?
Thanks!
Gee willikers, that looks neato!
I want one!!!
So who wants to move in with me?
Link please?
So I can decide if I should take up Lex’s offer. I need to be kept in the style to which I am accustomed.
The link is at the top. It’s the first word of the first post.
raises hand I need some man muscles around the farm!!
They are gorgeous, and my dad loves them, so that’s one battle won!!
The cost isn’t bad either. I could totally afford it though I’d be interested to see if it’s more than what I would pay given the professional resources I have access to, namely skilled labor from home builders and a construction company.
That’s exactly what I was looking into to, since my father built our house from the ground up. He CAN do it without a kit, but is it worth it in time/effort. But I was surprised how reasonable they were too. They don’t include how much shipping is though…
Two years when I priced them, I thougth the price was outrageously ridiculously high, given that it is only a kit (a kit you can put together much cheaper) without the roof, and once you figure in the roof material ($2000 ~ $10,000 for a small barn) and the shipping, and the labor, and the machinery, and the concrete, and assortments of stuff, ouch.
If you watch the video, they tell what is and is not included, and like someone said, roofing and concrete and shipping and labor (and other things) are not in the “kit”. But for the quality of the buildings, at first glace those prices don’t look that bad to me, knowing what it cost to put our home barn up. I guess I would look at them more closely if I was actually building again – I’m in WA state, where they are based, so maybe the shipping wouldn’t be so bad. I do love looking at the pictures and plans and dreaming…
If nothing else, it gave my dad and I REALLY good ideas of how to make our barn look professional! Even though I want to keep my place small scale (barn will have 6 stalls with maybe a storage area that doubles as a stallion/foaling stall and a big pasture with run-in for babies growing and pasture boarders, the place I’m looking at is 14-15 acres), I do want a place where people will bring quality horses for me to train, or will feel comfortable spending $$$$ on a sale prospect bought from there.
This is definitely a viable option for me. I’ve got access to skilled labor, all the materials I would need, and the process is fairly straight forward. I would be interested in comparing rates with the local designers though. I bet I could do the whole thing for far less if I just got the plans and used the resources I have access to instead of outsourcing for a lot of the pieces.
It says you get blueprints with the kits, I wonder if they would just sell a custom blueprint? I, too have access to skilled labor, where I live is filled with saw mills (lots of logging goes on, and depending on the acreage I choose, could have some of the lumber milled from the property), and dear old dad can finish it up really nicely.
I was looking at these this morning! I think I’m going to talk to a local designer/builder and see how they compair but it would give them ideas… I love them! Just wondering what the “extras” would add up to??
twistoffate – that’s exactly what I am planning! With the economy as it is, I’ve been told that some builders are willing to put in some pretty low bids just to get ANY work. But I am still tweaking my barn plans and looking at properties, so I’ve got a ways to go. Plus there is a lot in the kits that we could do ourselves, so I’m looking at finding a builder to put up the barn frame, then do stalls, mats, plumbing, electric and apartment ourselves. But I LOVE their plans, so I’ve been using their website as a terrific jumping off point!
I loved the roof on one of the models that kind of juts out. My husband came home and modified our plain barn roof to look somewhat like theirs. But he did this weird angle and now my roof looks strangely similar to the Flying Nun. I will have to post a picture when I get time.
Would love to see pictures! Hahaha
Keep us posted on what you find out when you take the plans “local.”
Bump!
I’m in the process of pricing out barns and kits are probably going to be a very convenient option. So after looking at their models Omg, I love the Barn Pros barns and options, especially the ones with attached apartments.
Soooo…anyone have new input on them to share?
