If nothing else, I am always curious and persistent about things that I don’t understand (there is good and bad to that!); but to allay my concerns about western saddle fit, I purchased the Dennis Lane templates. They are from AU and may take a couple months to make and ship here, but I will have them, and tree-makers think they are pretty good.
Dennis Lane is attempting to standardize how we size horses, so that saddle-makers and owners know how a tree should be made to fit that “type” of horse. So the templates define width and rock and twist – a different approach than making a cast or bending a wire over your horse’s back.
Has anyone else actually used them?
(I also ordered Rod Nikkel’s video on SaddleFit – despite having read everything on that danged website, lol!)
