Anyone use Tucker Milling Feeds?

My feed store was out of the feed I usually give my horses but, they had feed by a company called Tucker Milling they are out of Alabama. I checked out their website but, there was little info on it http://www.tuckermilling.com/tucker_milling_003.htm
Email address doesn’t work either as I was looking for nutritional values.

I was just curious if anyone is feeding this feed. It is a lot cheaper than the feed I am currently feeding which would help a lot.

I have fed Tucker Milling All Grain to my very easy keeper horse and had no problems with it. It’s a very basic feed for a good price. I can’t speak to any of their other feeds. The All Grain came recommended by my feed store lady and the ingredients are decent. I steered clear of their other feeds as I haven’t had any luck with anything but high quality feeds for horses who are hard keepers or who have any health issues.

Thank you, it was the all grain 16 that I was checking out. I appreciate your input.

I feed the Tucker Complete 14 %. I really really like how my guys look on it, even my old senior guys. It’s got really good ingredients, the 1st item on the tag is Alfalfa and there’s nothing that sounds vague or like it could be floor sweepings. They clean it up too.

Where do you guys buy yours? I’m in Chattanooga (more or less) and my BO goes somewhere in N. Ala to pick up a ton or so at a time. I’d like not to have to depend on his pick up schedule though. (I board one horse, have 6 more at home).

Mine comes from our southern states store in Fairmount,Ga
I guess you could call the mill and ask as none of their email address’s work.
I got some mare and foal 16 tonight and it is nice looking feed. Smells good and taste good too. Yea I tried it. I know I am strange LOL

What did you pay for your bag?

I’ve been feeding their Alfalfa and Oat pellets for a couple of years. Everybody is doing well. Nice coats, not too hot, holding weight well. And my two guys with not so great feet now have pretty good feet.

I’m not fond of that feed myself (I seem to get lucky and own hard keepers), but you can get Tucker Milling stuff in LaFayette, GA and Summerville, GA. PM me if you need the names.

Maybe we can do a deal: you buy me my TC, I’ll buy you your Tucker Milling, we can meet on I-75 for brunch and do a like-kind exchange!

We use Tucker 14 at our barn for just about everyone. I’ve been happy with it for my crazy TBs who I obsess over “quiet calories” on. Good weight on everyone. Very palatable.

We feed all of our “saddle” horses, weanlings and stallions, the tucker milling 12% pellets. Our senior guy gets the senior feed, pregnant mares get the mare and foal all grain. Last year we had a sick mare and she got fed the Equine 14. We haven’t had any problems with any of their grain, just be careful if you buy a bag of oats or corn. They tend to be VERY dusty. You can see pics of all our horses on our webpage so you can see how they do on it and they only get grain once a day.
Some of the broodmares on the webpage do look a little poor, but some are very old and only during the last 90 days of their pregnancy do they get grain. Other than that, they’re out in pasture 24/7.

Thanks to everyone. I am going to give it a shot plus it saves me a ton of money.

My 3 elderly hard keepers (2 of them TBs) look fantastic on the stuff, and the picky one adores it.

Haven’t seen TC in the area either, so I’m afraid I’m no help LOL

Tucker Milling Feed

I really, really, really like the Tucker textured feed in the black bag because the starch count is so low (lower than Triple Crown Sr!!!) and the fat count high. Their 12% in a red bag and 10 % in a blue bag are also very high in fat compared to the low price you pay but not as low in starch.

I caution EVERYONE in general to not just go by what a label says, for example “low starch”. Call or email the company like I did and get the facts. There are some BIG NAME companies out there stamping “low starch” on their bags and the feed is only a couple digits lower than their regular feed. Yea it’s lower, but still in the 20’s is unacceptable to me and misleading.

Ok so I basically just joined this site to post this. After hearing about my friend’s horrible experience with Tucker Milling, I googled the company and this thread was one of my search results. This isn’t about the horse feed but after hearing about her experience, I doubt I’d still use them so I wanted to share.

So my friend and her husband put their entire savings into starting their own pasture raised, non-gmo fed chicken, etc egg business. They were assured by the company of the nutritional quality and contents of the food. They were lied to, after raising 2000 chickens on this food, they aren’t laying eggs. The company hired a new nutritionist that told them the feed was insufficient and there was no wonder the chickens never layed eggs. They then reached out to the company for a refund since the feed was supposed to be guaranteed, at which point the company refused to meet with them and lawyered up. My friend and her husband are in debt and have a failing business and in the process of seeking legal counsel and reaching out to other farmers who have had similar issue with Tucker Milling. Anyways I hope this helps and I see that this an old post and was going to keep scrolling but I felt compelled to share. Like I said I realize that this is about chicken feed and not horse feed but it makes you wonder if they’re lacking in other departments. Thanks.

Just seeing this post but was wondering about the tasty 14. I’ve been feeding my mare and pony this with no problems but they put a10% in by mistake. I went ahead and gave it to them for a couple of days. Realized today my mare has the"runs". It’s late and I’m worried. She’s eating and drinking good. Waiting on vet to open in the morn. Rambling… Sorry, it’s late

This is one of the reasons I only use single ingredients plus a vit/min pellet…I no longer trust commercial feeds.

I have my easy keeper on the TM Solutions 12 and he does great on it. I think the website is pretty crappy right now. I did ask my feed store what the NSC was on this feed, and when I found it, it was very low (seemed to me, anyway), so I am happy with it. Unfortunately I don’t recall the number. My feed store has all those numbers, so I could ask.

ETA didn’t realize HOW old this thread is.

The owners of Tucker Milling were murdered in 2015. I used TM when I lived in Tennessee; it was a good feed at a decent price. They had a nonGMO feed for just a couple dollars more than conventional feeds. That allowed a lot more people into nonGMO market with milk and eggs. Of course nonGMO doesn’t mean anything nowadays but it was a good company. I think the murderers were both caught.

” Denie and Pam Tucker owned Tucker Milling LLC and were lifetime members of the National Barrel Horse Association and American Quarter Horse Association.”

^^^ I didn’t know that. That sucks. Scary world we live in.

Wanted to thank you for your comments on the TM complete 14%, my barn just switched to TM since Cavalor prices went through the roof. Also off topic question for you, I currently board in Chatsworth live in Chattanooga (moved recently) but looking for a good jumper boarding bard in or near Chattanooga. Any recommendations?
