Ive just purchased a bottle to try for my Grade 2 roarer.
Just wondering if anyone else has tried and and had results…good or bad?
Did you administer orally with a syringe or via feed?

We used it briefly on a new gelding who developed a slight cough in spring…presumably due to allergies. We added it to his feed. It did seem to help. Once the allergy season was over we took him off it.
He was not a roarer though.
It is a good product and highly recommended. I just purchased a bottle recently because my horse had developed a cough supposedly from allergies. The vet is treating it with meds but sometimes before or after I ride I give it to him. I don’t know how effective it is in a roarer though. What does your vet say?
I do it via syringe about 15 minutes before I ride, but I am really just dealing with a slight cough. It works fine and it’s easy/cheap. Not sure I would expect it to do much for a horse with something more than airway irritation (allergies, mucous, etc.) though…
I also try to remember to give it before a trailer trip since it probably helps a bit there as well, but I probably forget more than I remember.
We use it for one of our young gelding’s with a summer cough. It worked great.
I also use it for my elderly Rat Terrier. She has congenital heart failure and coughs a lot especially at night. It has worked great for her also.
Vet has said to try it. Since the roaring is so mild tie-back surgery really doesnt seem worth it at this point, so I am just trying to see if there is anything I can give him before a ride that may help, even just a little bit.
I am just thinking giving it to him via syringe may get more on ME and in him, lol.
the dose is only 15cc so it’s not really enough to dribble back on you if you hold up the jaw for a second, and the flavor isn’t bad (albeit very mentholated) so they aren’t trying to spit it out.
After I finished using the first bottle, when I ordered the next batch from Jeffers, I added a livestock feeding syringe - long curved metal pipette attached to syringe - about $8 IIRC and has the added bonus of being able to draw out of the bottle for quite a few more doses than regular dose syringe.
Yes, I use it for my aged mustang who has heaves, when he’s a little inflamed I syringe 1oz. Syringe is way better than topdressing feed imo because its a big rush of menthol right on the tongue/mouth. My horse adores the flavor and I have to struggle to get the syringe out of his mouth before he crunches it.
My BO was impressed with the product and tried it for her horse who was a roarer but had tie back surgery. She still breathes loudly during hard work despite the surgery. She noticed a significant difference.
I take a little of the syrup myself if I get wheezy/asthma while at the barn and my puffer isn’t handy. Its quite strong stuff.
I love this product, it works everywhere I use it.
Thanks for the input. I work in a medical office so Ill see if I can find something in the office syringe wise that may work.
relocatedTXjumpr, please let me know if/how soon you seen any improvement with your roarer. I have a 5yo hanoverian gelding who’s a roarer (not a sign of it when we bought him as a 3yo.) and I’ve been looking for a supplement that may help him. I tried SmartBreathe for about 6 mos with no discernable improvement. There’s a lady at our barn who makes a home-made concoction with some human cough syrup, a german-product, and massive amounts of vitamin C, that she swears by. Couldn’t find the ingredients of the AirPower product on the Finish Line site, but maybe similar.
Anyway, please post your results. Thanks!
LOVE IT!!!
The heavey guy in the barn is on SmartBreathe and flax year round, but I add Air Power to his feed on mornings I know it’s going to be hot and humid (90s). It makes the difference between him struggling to breathe and coughing to being no different than the rest of the guys. The diet maintenance has done wonders for getting him off drugs, but the humidity is just tough for him. This is the extra kick he needs.
My mare would cough all summer along it was horrible, I now have her on 1 cup whole flax with 15cc syringed Air Power every morning. she is completely off all of her drugs and is cough free I swear by it!!! I have found it works better if given in the morning than right before a ride. On really humid days I will give it to her at night as well.
ZOMBIE THREAD!
Mine does not roar but did have a successful tieback as a youngster.
I syringe 15 ccs in with a drenching syringe when I bring him in, before I tack up and ride. So maybe 15-20 minutes before I get on. I would love him to get it first thing in the morning but I board and that wouldn’t really work.
VERY happy with the results I’m seeing. 100% success controlling a “first 5 minutes” cough with it. Horse doesn’t mind the taste either. REALLY pleased with it!
I’ve used it off and on for several years on horses with allergies. It helps with the cough, but not with the allergies. Unfortunately, my feed guy at Producer’s Coop tells me he can’t get it any more. I suppose I’ll have to look online for it. I use a dosing syringe. None of my horses – which range from a 15-2-hand mare to a 16-3+ hand gelding – seem to object to it.
Adding to the six year old thread…
Mice love the stuff. I’ve never gotten to use it because they chewed right through the plastic bottle on the first night!

I got a sample of Omega & Alpha’s RespiFree this past April and used it on my RAO horse. (His nebulizer had conked out so I was a little worried that not doing his usual pre-competition saline routine would adversely affect him.) Stuff works great! No cough, no runny nose, nuttin.’ Really impressed.
