Anyone using 4CYTE?

How is everyone’s horse doing with 4CYTE?

I am three plus weeks into my trial and I’m not seeing positive results. My senior actually walked away from me on two days last week (extremely unusual) and hasn’t been interested in going for walks (with two days exception). I’ve been syringing the 4CYTE directly into his mouth to ensure he’s actually getting it.

He struggled with hind end comfort a lot last spring and I blamed it on the abscess from hell. He’s obviously uncomfortable again this spring, and I’m now thinking it might be the unstable/deep/slippy footing overstressing his fragile stifle and causing compensation issues. That may also have contributed to the apparent Osphos wearing off at 5 months. Maybe it was just the stifle strain.

The vet’s coming on Tuesday for spring vaccination. I’m going to have blood drawn for the pre Osphos kidneys check and have Osphos done the following week. Hopefully that will give him a comfortable summer, and I’ll see how he’s doing in the fall before deciding if I’ll ask him to manage the winter. :anguished:

I didn’t notice a difference either. I couldn’t justify continuing with it due to the cost, so I finished off the package and stopped it.

A friend of mine is using it on her elderly horse, and she reports that he is moving better, and very importantly, eating better, and generally happier in himself.

I’ve seen a notable positive difference with my dog, which has been really rewarding. I’m curious about it for my horse but am holding off for more feedback from horse people so I appreciate the updates.

My vet clinic suggested that I buy the horse size and use it for my dog, too, to save money. I never did try it on my dog; she was at the point where she couldn’t stand up and we had to say goodbye, but maybe this is an option for you.

It could be helping my horse, but I just can’t be sure with the fragile stifle and the mud, snow, ice, spring footing. I know the Osphos worked, and if this is going to be his last winter then I want him as comfortable as possible for the summer.

My horse has mild arthritic changes in his left hock, and has been a bit sore in his right stifle, and I have been giving him 4cyte for about a month. He has been going well and happily.
Over the weekend he must have done something to himself and is sore in that right leg (I;m assuming it’s his stifle) and I am wondering if it is safe to give him some bute for a few days, at the same time as 4cyte?

Definitely safe to use bute and 4cyte at the same time.

I am wondering now if 4cyte and previcox can be used at the same time? He had a few days off with bute, and is now going happily again. But I am wondering if previcox might also help. I have never used it with him before.

I use them together every day on 3 horses. No complications or problems.
