Anyone using Purina Ultium Growth this year?

What do you thing about it? Pros & cons.

We’ve been using it for almost 2 years now. We are very happy with how it keeps good weight on our hard keepers (most of our mares are full TB). Not so happy with how the price keeps going up. I think it is up 25% since we started using it and imagine with the drought will only get worse :o

I’ve got to second this… I love how my horses do on both the growth and the regular ultium. It’s gotten so pricey though, I tried switching to something else, but they didn’t do as well on the other, so they’re back on the ultium.

Love the product, hate the price…

This is the first winter in awhile that I have not used Ultium Growth. About mid-way thru the winter I noticed that my yearlings did not look like normal. I started up on the Ultium, straight and then mixed it with their regular sweetfeed half and half. All of them changed back to the way my yearlings normally look. Love the product and will not stop using it.

Cost?

As we posted before we have had great luck with ultium growth but I just paid 28.88 a bag!
Curious what others are paying?

Will let you know in a bit. Heading to the feed store!

Love my young ones on the ultuim growth. 32 a bag…

34.50 I believe. ugh…

$22.50 a bag. Love how my mares look…

I think we’re paying in the low 20’s for it. I also mix it with Omolene 300 - about 2/3 Ultium Growth to 1/3 Om. 300. My broodmare gets 1/3 Ultium Growth, 1/3 Omolene 300, and 1/3 Equine Sr. in four smaller feeds per day. All of mine are doing well and I’ve had no significant bone problems in growing youngsters through the time they leave, well-radiographed, after starting. It’s just easier for me to use Purina products but we have great pasture and very good orchard grass hay this year. I do supplement once a day with a good vit/min. top dressing.

I’ve never fed Ultium Growth, but did regular Ultium several years ago when my feed supplier didn’t tell me they were switching company’s till they practically had no stock of my current feed and I had little or no time to find a alternative…I was not a fan just because it wasn’t a fixed formula, and every time I got a load of feed it had at least 5 or 6 of the top 10 ingredients different than the last bag. Needless to say my guys weren’t on it terribly long!! In my opinion for the cost of it, it should be a fixed formula, although maybe it is now I’m not sure.

I’ve had a disaster with a feed company in the past so am pretty picky, and in my opinion Pennfield is a far better feed, and the company is great to work with!
