Anyone with a pinched nerve?

Hi All,
I seemed to have pinched a nerve in my neck/shoulder. Anyway if I move or put my arm or head an certain way my arm/shoulder gets tingly/falls asleep. Any good cures? I have not gone to the dr. yet but will if it doesn’t go away soon. I have no idea how/why this happened.
Thanks

See a Chiropractor.

Start with an evaluation, first

You will need an evaluation before the chiropractor. some x-rays, etc. A P.T. can help you and show you some ways to relax the tense areas your self. The important part is knowing what is being pinched and why.

For example, my DH had similar symptoms, and he needed a cervical vertebrae fusion immediately. My vertebrae have a tendency to move out of place, but I don’t need fusion. A dab of stem cell will eventually be needed, but for now, the P.T. can relieve it. It is too delicate for chiro work.

Me again! Ruh-roh…

Ruh-Roh…Get thee QUICKLY to an orthopedist or neurologist ASAP. This is not a good thing. Symptoms like that are serious.
You could end up with permanent damage. Please make that appt. even if your symptoms ease.

I’ve had HORRIBLE episodes with a pinched nerve in my neck. It caused pain throughout my neck, down my shoulder and down my arm, extending to my elbow. It took tons of pain meds, muscle relaxers, icing and physical therapy to resolve. I now have a portable traction device that I can use at home when I feel a “flare up” begin. I agree with the advice above - see a doctor, get some x-rays and work with a good PT.

Best of luck.

Hi All,
I am making a appointment now…its getting worse! now im getting off and on numbness all the way down to my thump! UGH!!! and I have no idea how i sis this!!
Thanks for the input!

DUH for me!

You likely did it lifting something. We goofy horse people don’t think much about it but even a full waterbucket can herniate a disc. Ditto a full feedbag lifted. Lots of things we do are risky to our backs/necks/spines. Learn and practice good body mechanics. You’ll avoid injuries. Just because it’s there doesn’t mean YOU have to move it!! Or that it has to be moved NOW!!!
And oh how I sympathize!! Best wishes to you. My last flare was when I was snowshoveling. DUH!!!

I got a appointment for thusday. It is so weird I have no idea what I did…thou I agree we horse people do so much we dont think about the “little” injuries or soreness. Ugh!

Don’t suffer for too long. Sometimes all you need is a cortisone shot to get the inflammation down, then some physical therapy and you’re good to go.

Update

Hi All,
Well went to the Dr. and I have two things going on carple tunnel and a possible trapped nerve between my neck and shoulder. So I got a shot of cortizone and muscle relaxers. And next week I get to go to a specialist and MRI to see what is going on with my neck. I have to say the shot has helped I can move much freer and my arm is not falling a sleep as much or as bad. So moral of this is if your limbs are falling a sleep/goin numb it is not good don’t wait as I did!
Thank you for all the replies!
