Anyone with experience buying horse from Rockwall Hills Equestrian (or Ellen Doughty Hume?)

Hi! I was curious if anyone had any experience buying a horse from Rockwall Hills Equestrian in Dallas Texas area? I’m not from that area and while I’m aware there is a very long thread on COTH, I’d like to know if anyone has bought a house from them? They have some nice ones. I’m just curious to people’s experiences and what to expect.

Responses can be pmed. Thank you!

This is not about sales horses, But, leopards have spots, leopards spots are likely to cover all activities of said leopard.

I would not. If you choose to make sure to get a full vetting with xrays, blood work and the whole nine yards.

Read the link posted above in its entirety and Google EDH’s name before deciding if our want to do any kind of business with her.

Yeah I’ve decided to check out other horses in that area that have less risk/drama attached. Nice horses (I didn’t know who they were with until looking further) but not what I can go into with confidence. It’s a shame :frowning:

Yes I’ve heard horror stories. Make sure you get the coffins, vetting and if you buy a sales receipt.

Now that’s expecting the worst!

Anecdotally, and visually twice at different times and places … horses coming from that barn have arrived noticably under-nourished, with no glow. And with peculiar barn manners. They seem very glad to be in new circumstances.

Hopefully someone with who has done a direct purchase will share their experience.
