I have one friend who just bred to him & another who’s 4 yr old is turning out really nice. She’s very tall, 17+, all leg, good mind, good movement for dressage plus 4 tall white stockings/blaze & bright chestnut. Had top GP rider recently tell her mare wasn’t just a good horse was a VERY good horse & recommended to rebreed to him. Just wanted to get other pics/stories of Wildcard offspring for friends.
I think Oldenburg Mom has a young Wildcard mare that was recently champion in-hand at the Fair Hill Breed Show. Her name is Watermark, aka April.
I have one!!!
I have a 7 yr old gelding out of my TB mare. He’s 17 hh - bright chestnut with chrome. He’s an awesome horse - we’re showing locally at 2nd level and he’s schooling lead changes. He almost always gets 7s on his gaits. My trainer says he has great ability…I just have to continue to improve my AA riding skills to continue bringing him up the levels! Great disposition - great gaits. Would definitely recommend Wildcard. Wildmark - aka Harry - also trail rides and jumps! I’d love to post a picture but unfortunately I don’t know how to do it on here!!
Thanks but I DO want to see them if you can ever figure it out. Don’t worry, I can’t post either.
I had one a few years ago. Very nice filly. Sold to FEI dressage trainer. Haven’t heard from her in a while. Must see if I can get an update. Below is the last photo I took of her at 2 years old.
She was quite tall and a very nice mover.
We had a flashy chestnut colt at the Canadian Hanoverian inspection back in 2003. Very good mover! He was Reserve Champion behind the Rhodes Scholar/Brentano colt, Rhodeo.
Dr. Evelyn Vollstedt told me some years back that this stallion was very underutilized. Seems between him being chestnut in color, not in a performance career, and not promoted, breeders just over looked him.
My Elite Hano mare had several very impressive foals by him before we got her.
Here’s a link to a couple pictures of my Wildcard gelding.
Sorry, I just saw this thread … but better late than never! Yes, Miss April did well at FairHill—Christine did an excellent job showing her.
Having said that, I want to set the record straight … I don’t want to take any credit for something I haven’t done … or own, for that matter.
The mare, Watermark, is owned by Tina Baglione, who has brought her up since she was a few weeks old.
While I am listed as the breeder, which is not entirely accurate but it’s what’s on the papers, the truth of the matter is that I owned the mare (April’s Mama), Bella Sera. That was my sole contribution … Sonia Hoglund was the person that came up with Wildcard—and it was an excellent choice. The mare has a lovely temperament, just like her mama and papa.
The only thing I really did was pay the bills.sigh Much as I would like to take the credit, I really can’t.
Wildcard is a fine, fine, stallion. I wouldn’t hesitate to breed to him again. Sonia made a good call there …
Bringing up this old thread to see if anyone knows that he adds height and long legs? Sounds like he might throw a good temperment? Any more info would be appreciated.
My friend’s filly, now turning 6, has turned out to be rather difficult. BUT, we found out why. Seems she was just diagnosed with EPSM. Now that she’s been on an oil supplement she is turning around quickly. Some of her behavior is now learned but the mare is doing okay at this point. She went to USDF show 2 weeks ago & came home with all mid 60’s & 2 blues & 2 second places for the weekend. She is very tall, modern, leggy. Good mover now that she is on oil supplement. I think friend will keep her forever. She takes her out “jogging” with her husband. Says that when something scares this mare that she trots with her head right next to husband’s shoulder. I think she’s coming around to be a good horse.
I’ve always heard that Wild Card has a good disposition.
I have an 8 year old mare by him. She is very nice, big movement, 3 tall stockings and a blaze. Little bit of a firecracker, not mean just ready and alert. Use her for breeding. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5NxRzXvWz4&feature=related I have more video’s on my youtube Wai Ele Her dam is by Wertherson. Overall we are pleased with her.
Yes, I have one. LOVELY mare, wonderful movement and excellent temperament… she’s wonderful with people, but an alpha mare in the pasture … which I think she gets from her mom. Breeding: Wildcard/Bella Sera/Batido. Wildcard’s mom is a super person to deal with too.
There’s a lovely Wildcard mare for sale on the Dressage Daily Horsemarket website, looks like a nice quality, quiet, sane mare to me! Or perhaps that’s why you are asking–LOL!

She is lovely! I wonder if anyone has bred a smaller mare to him? They all seem leggy enough for my taste too. Hmmmm.
To answer the size question, I have a Wildcard mare, out of a 15.3hh Rolling Stone mare. She is almost 5 y/o, and is still sticking at 15.1hh. That being said, she is certainly the exception, for Wildcard progeny. But I’m a small adult, so her size is perfect for me. She is smart as a whip and a thinker. She loves attention, and boy can she trot!
Breeding Wildcard mare
I have a mare out of Wildcard and I would like to breed her. She is narrow in the chest with thorougbred legs. Definitley a better mover than Wildcard. What to improve canter with more jump and general uphill build; otherwise she is perfect. Anyone breed their Wildcard mare? If so with what line? Thanks
I’d look at Benedetto for her, Skylar.
