Searched the threads and I cannot find a thread comparing other supplements with PP. I have been using PP but wanted to see if there is a similar but more economical supplement to use instead?
Santa Cruz Animal Health’s UltraCruz line.

which PP are you using - they have a number of different formulations, each which would have different comparables.
The regular one.
MVP Exceed 6-way is very similar.
I switched from regular Glanzen to Platinum Performance for a few of mine (and kept several on Glanzen). From a horse perspective, I find them to be interchangeable. More recently, I switched to the Platinum Performance horses to THE Equine Edge products (Performance and Muscle Mass). Not as similar in appearance or texture, but seem to be very similar ingredient-wise.
But of the companies, Horsetech (Glanzen) is hands down my favorite to work with. Absolutely love that I’ve been able to email Rod any questions I have at any time and always have gotten back thoughtful responses no matter how silly the request.
I don’t know how any of them compare to each other cost-wise (except that Equine Edge is quite a bit less expensive than the Platinum Perf products), but I can say that I’ve been happy with all 3 products.
Not that this answers your question, but I was looking at a bucket of PP yesterday and wow, do you need to feed a lot of it!
Another vote for the MVP Exceed 6-Way! I tried Platinum CJ for my senior show horse and he refused to touch it. I will say that the customer service at PP was phenomenal - they provided a full refund of the purchase price when I told them that I couldn’t get him to eat it.
The Exceed 6-Way is very economical for a comprehensive supplement (~$85 for 28 days in SmartPaks). My horse has been on it for a little over 2 months now and he’s moving great, his coat is sleek and shiny, and his mane, tail and hooves are growing like crazy.
I always look at folks’ recommendations, so I compared Santa Cruz Wellness with Manna Pro Sho Glo – and seemed to me that Sho Glo might be a sleeper better performer. You never hear about Sho Glo anymore. I don’t use it, but I recall my vet loving it 30 years ago.
BTW, www.feedxl.com is a great resource for doing these comparisons – just create a diet that contains the items you want to compare, and then look at the nutrient graph to see how they each contribute to the equine RDA.
@tinah thanks for posting. never heard of Santa Cruz but won’t be supporting a company like that.
Say it ain’t so! I was just planning to switch most of my supplement purchasing to Santa Cruz, and never thought to click on that “Santa Cruz Biotechnology” tab on the scahealth page. I actually saw part of that story in Nature a couple years ago and never put two and two together.
Animal cruelty on that scale and persisting over that span of time is not something I can look past. I’ll happily pay a bit more for Vitamin E to avoid supporting that kind of reprehensible behavior.
I really love O3 Animal Health. I used to use Platinum until I got a few more horses (oops) and heard from a friend about this company. Have been seeing much, much better results! Plus, it is so much cheaper than, at least what I got, from Platinum.

I’ve been feeding Glanzen consistently for almost a year now, and all my guys all look fabulous on it! All 3 of them are super shiny, even with their shaggy winter coats. Plus, no added iron, like the Platinum has. Not sure how it stacks up price wise, but I just LOVE HorseTech as a whole company. (I mean, they send you cookies with your order, lol.)
