APF Pro: Anyone using it?

As the title says…anyone using it? I put my guy on it last week, doing 4 ml… going to go through a bottle much quicker than I thought I would. His workload has increased tenfold since the winter and we travel now at least 2-3x a week.

Wondering if anyone else is using it and what were the reasons they are trying it? Did they see a difference?

Following. I have contemplated using this product more than once but never got to ordering it. I do supplement my endurance horses with Rhodiola rosea (one of the ingredients) and Ashwagandha (not one of the ingredients but known to be an immune booster). Let us know if you see any differences.

My 5 year old had a chronic case of scratches last summer with none of the standard potential triggers. After 5 months of this lingering, I put him on 5 grams of Ashwagandha and 8 drops daily of the Rhodiola and it cleared up within a week. Hard to know if there was a direct link or coincidence.

Well, it might be too early to tell but I will definitely let you know… We do a lot of long distance riding and travel a few times a week… He is a naturally sensitive horse but doesn’t always give me 100% when we do dressage/flat work… however, I will say the past 3 days he has been fantastic and very professional, in the rain none the less. We will see if he continues to do well.

The reason why I put him on it (other than the immune support) is because the old eventing facility I worked at had a few mares on it who did very well on it and we DID notice a difference if they ran out… and despite him being a gelding, he’s the closest thing to a mare I’ve had in terms of temperament

I have used APF for years. I started using APF Pro when it was formulated.
My three older geldings (17,13,12) get it daily. I also have a kennel of Field Trial Bird Dogs (5 dogs)that are on APF Pro daily from the day they are weaned.
I see the most dramatic results when I am traveling and competiting over long periods. My animals handle the stress and workload like a breeze.
I take it daily too, and I have more energy and a hard to describe feeling of well being. My wife started taking APF Pro last year and reports extra energy for her Yoga habit.

I tried it with a horse who struggled with ulcers. Within days he was like a spider monkey on crack so I took him off and he went back to normal.

I am also trying APF pro and looked here to see what has been said. I have one 26 year old gelding who has Cushings and a low thyroid - on meds for both, but decided to try him on this also to see if he would feel more energized. The thyroid med is helping, so I will see. I’m not so sure if I should be giving it to my other gelding, 23 , with a torn meniscus injury. He gets sound and then starts to get enthusiastic under saddle and hurts himself again. I would like it to help build muscle he needs around the meniscus to support it, but If he gets high, it won’t serve him. It seems from what I’m reading here, it gets mixed results. I’ll report what results I get. Only starting it today.

I was told by the manufacturer that APF Pro can make them a bit hot. A friend uses APF for the Pergolide vail with success. I did not purchase it because of the possibility of “hot”.

Hey! I made this thread

I should probably update.

As far as dosing, super easy to drop the 4ml on a gingersnap or dry cookie - it absorbs it right up, and you give it to the horse. You know it’s in them, and I like that better than top-dressing the grain.

I had my horse on it the whole summer. He did not get crazy or hot.

I did discontinue it, but that was because I ended up discovering why he wasn’t giving me 100% in dressage… That was one of his earliest symptoms of some low grade laminitis (extremely thin soles). I thought it was an energy thing (especially with the constant traveling) and that the conditioning and APF Pro would help… but it ended up being physical, I just didn’t realize yet.

I never put him back on it because, after we fixed the feet he was a totally different horse and now gives 120% in anything I ask. :encouragement:
