Apple 5 Watch

Anyone with an Apple 5 Watch register a fall on it from your horse? Just wondering if it works.

Yes. It also can be activated if you have a ā€œhard jumperā€ as far as how they hit the ground when they land. This doesn’t happen frequently.

I haven’t fallen since owning it, but I walloped one being naughty during bathtime and it registered that impact as a fall. I don’t remember the wording that cam up on the screen, but I had the option to cancel the SOS call to my ICE contact, and I did so. Of course, right after I realized it would have been a great test to see what chain of events it set off, but I haven’t had the opportunity to do so since.

I have one, have triggered it often while having err, conversations about manners in the alley way with my pushy youngster.

ā€Āit looks like you have had a hard fall are you OKā€Ā

Hit yes, while swearing at horse…

ā€œHave you had a hard fall and are OK,ā€Ā

or

ā€œYou haven’t had a fall?l

Ihave never let it run its course to see what happens.

I set mine off accidentally all the time during the course of a day at the barn! So I imagine it would work in the event of a fall from a horse.

Mine asked if I had a hard fall after killing 5 horse flies off my horse. It vibrates when it’s asking, and I just hit no, I hadn’t had a fall.

Ohh interesting. I’ve been toying with switching to an iPhone, the fall feature on the supporting watch would be handy if it works… IF it works. Of course I’ll have to figure out who to send it to, my Dad, who ignores texts, or my BF, who ignores texts

I bought one especially for the fall feature so I’m glad to hear it works. I’m not riding anymore but I have had severe bouts of vertigo and since I live alone I thought it would be a useful feature. Only problem is that I much prefer my Rolex so that is what I wear unless I am feeling woozy. Sometimes I wear both at once.

If you or your listed emergency contact doesn’t reply it will call 911.

I too have tested it…

What happens when it ā€œcallsā€ 911? Is it a recorded message with a GPS, or ?

I’ve not found this fall feature…but mine thinks I run a lot;). Every ride it thinks I’ve gone for a run.

I thought mine was going to ask me if I was doing a work out yesterday, it took a lot of energy to get my boots on.

There is an actual Equestrian Sport option instead of running that you can select if you wish.

I have one and I really like it! Haven’t fallen with it yet, but have accidentally set it off a few times. No problem to tell it I have not fallen.

How do you do that?

click the crown button on your watch, scroll down through the apps and select ā€˜workout’ mine has Equestrian as first option, I think I set it up on my phone!

i really must try it, I see it logs heart beat etc. I imagine there will be a big difference between me riding, and me having a lesson.

Oh man definitely a difference, I nearly died at my last lesson.
I’ve had one a few months, and I generally like it. The only time the fall detection has gone off was when I had a fall on XC; I haven’t had any other falls since getting it and it hasn’t gone off at other random times. The only thing I don’t like about it is the battery doesn’t last. Mine barely makes it 12 hours, and they advertise that it should last 18.
