AQHA Neck Testing at Horse Shows?

So in all those green classes the horses are not actually green? Hmm. Who knew.

I am betting that AQHA was not sitting around coming up with ideas to give “culls” from WP a chance to compete. My money is on people got fed up and said, hey, there’s more fun to be had with these horses, let’s approach AQHA to see if they’d be interested in letting some of us take our horses back to their actual roots because we’ve seen this stuff can be fun.

It’s a different interest, just as Working Equitation is - fun, different and does not rely on “culls” from any other sport.

It is your opinion, and it is not true that 2’ 6" and below horses are “culls” Jesus. Same with ranch horses not being “culls”

I’ll give you $1500 for your cull and not a penny more

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: is he even worth that much!?! Sadly, I will be retiring him in the next three years. I sure hope I can find another cull just like him!

Better try the salebarn, maybe you can outbid the kill buyer by $20.

Ha! So I did buy at a prospect at an auction….it was the Reno Snaffle Bit sale. I am hoping that cull will work out too!

I’ll give you $2K (Canadian) for him. He’s surely not worth a Nickle more than that. Thanks for sharing your pictures and your experience. Sadly your wonderful post is wasted on some who think they know all about a discipline they’ve never shown in, or were around the western world of showing when it started.

I’m going to stick up for @endlessclimb Perhaps all these examples are changing perspective. I know I’ve learned something. Thanks to all who shared information. What I know about the QH world can be placed in a thimble and swished around.

I don’t think eightpondfarm has posted in this thread, have they?

You have a lovely horse & certainly not a cull by any frame of reference!
Love his frame in the Ranch picture (3rd down) :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

In my part of the world & the local QH-dominated non-rated shows, Ranch is mostly a single class, not a division, and filled by the WP riders who don’t fit the classic WP mold.

I always wished I had gone. From what I understand, it has changed over the last few years

I think at the local saddle club shows you do find that. What I found, was at those shows the people show all day. Nothing wrong with that either. At our NRCHA shows, we also offer ranch club classes as well as AQHA VRH. We have some western pleasure types show up for trail and ranch riding. They do ok, but they do move out some. They usually don’t enter the reining or cow classes.
