Arabians off the track

Hi Endurance forum

I have an Arabian horse coming in from the track to start a new career.

Can anyone here enlighten me on unique differences in the training and management of Arab (vs TB/QH) race prospects at the track that would affect the transition to a show performance career?

I have worked with other breeds coming off the track, but am specifically curious if the training program with this breed (yes, I know there will be breed temperament differences) differs in a way that will significantly influence how I should approach this horse’s initial re-training. I always cater my program to the individual horse’s needs, just thought a ‘heads up’ on specifics could be useful.

Thanks!

My first horse was an off the track Arabian. She seemed reasonably well trained and to have more buttons than the typical off the track TB. I think (here anyway) they raced in longer races and so wanted them more broke so they didn’t waste as much energy before the race being silly.
