Arc de Triomphe Bridle, Starman or Eros?

Hi Everyone. I was wondering if anyone had pictures of their ADT starman or eros bridle, and your thoughts on them. I am having trouble deciding between the two. Besides the obvious differences, I basically want to see what color the two different colors will oil to. I know the starman will always hold a reddish color, I just need some input to help me decide! I am also open to suggestions of other brands of similar style.

Thanks everyone!

I personally prefer the stitching of the Starman, as its the same pattern as my ADT Imperial bridle and I think it looks really classy.

You can’t really go wrong with either, Arc de Triomphe is a great brand.

Here is a link to some photos of the ADT Starman. It was brand new in these photos. It is not so red any more.

Not the greatest photo (cell phone) but this is a Starman.

Slightly off topic, but I would love to have a Starman if only it had a slotted cavasson.

The Starman is a slotted cavasson. The flash was just not put through the slots on the photos I posted.

Here is a close up of the bridle http://www.tackroominc.com/arch-triomphe-starman-bridle-pi-8039.html

We have three Arc De Triomphe bridles plus a couple of martingales (standing and running). Two Imperials (different colors) and the Starman.

You misunderstand, the flash has nothing to do with whether the cavesson is slotted. I have seen Lucassb’s Starman and it is beautiful leather, and has the slotted cavesson, but I have noticed on Mortack’s website it does not appear to be slotted, perhaps a mistake on their part when they were posting pictures, or it was an earlier prototype.

Did you happen to take a look at the photos I posted above in post #3 ?

In those photos of our Starman bridle the bridle does NOT appear to have a slotted cavesson BECAUSE my daughter did not use the slot when she put it together. Thus my reply. Thank you though.

Horsezee what you don’t understand is that we are not referring to the “slot” you put the flash through on your bridle. A slotted cavesson refers to the way the straps of the cavesson are attached to the noseband, either they are threaded through the slots on either side of the face or they are sometimes just stitched on, which some people don’t care for. In the original pictures of the Starman posted on Mortack’s website, the photos showed a bridle that did not have a slotted noseband, they seem to have changed that now. Ir has nothing to do with the flash and the way it attaches to the noseband.

Good reply BAC. Good description. Thanks.

Of course, if Mortack is now making the Starman with a slotted cavasson instead of the cavasson straps simply being sewn in, I will have to go on the prowl to add this to my collection. Bummer that I missed out on Lucassb’s bridle.

Now to respond to the OP’s question in part. I also have the Arc de Triomphe Liberty for an everyday bridle. I have it in the nut color and it lightly oiled up to a nice chocolate brown without any red undertones (except for the padding). I prefer plain raised to fancy stitched so would prefer the Starman over the Eros (less stitching on the Starman). Whichever model you chose, I am sure you will love it!

It is too bad you missed out on Lucassb’s Starman, but Rebecca at PremierTackOutlet.com can order any ADT bridle at a discount for you. I happen to love ADT’s nut color, and don’t find it at all red once it is oiled, I think its a much more attractive color than their mud colored brown.

Wow, thanks for all the info!! I think I am going to go with the starman! Thanks again!

I do have a preference for square raised though, which the Eros offers. And the brown color of the Eros shown on Mortack’s website is not the same ugly brown I have seen in stores. Just to make your choice more difficult.

On the Mortack website, it does NOT appear to be slotted, and I couldn’t tell from Lucassb’s photo…

Any mystery solving done on this yet?

Can someone link me to a place to buy this? Smartpak doesn’t carry it?

Naters, you can buy ADT bridles at a discount through PTO as already mentioned in one of my previous posts.

Yes, but she doesn’t appear to have pictures of it online that I could find… need a retail site with photos to determine slotted vs not…

Can’t quite tell from Lucassb’s photo on the slotted issue…

Just as an aside, I was looking at a photo of a Jimmy’s that I used to have, and it wasn’t slotted either…

Just ask Rebecca at PTO or email her. And I know for a fact that Lucassb’s is slotted. Whether that matters or not is individual preference, for me its a deal breaker but some people don’t care at all and that’s fine too.

Reviving this old thread. Does anyone have an updated photo of the Starman nut aged for a year or more post oil? I have the opportunity to purchase one for a steal and it looks like it should oil nice and dark but I am worried about a reddish hue.

My mare is really dark bay (see the photo).

We have both. You cannot go wrong with either one. Although we prefer our Hermes to the ADT, just for the simplicity of design.
