Are Saddle Sales down right now in general or is it just Prestige

Basically I have a really nice used Prestige Saddle that I’ve been trying to sell for months. I basically have it at a give away price now and still no bites.

Was going to put it on eBay, so looked at Prestige Dressage Saddles on eBay and they don’t look like that they are selling either.

Is the market down in general or is there something going on with Prestige. I bought my “new to me” saddle from Fine Used Saddles, when I asked about consigning this saddle with them, I was told that they no longer accept Prestige (no reason given)

Is Facebook Groups the best place to sell or is there a better place?

I don’t think they are that popular right now.
I had an albion to sell awhile ago and someone told me about Maryland Tack Exchange. I contacted them and sent them good pictures of my albion and asked them what they would pay outright for my saddle because they will do that. Keep in mind they will offer you less than what you would sell it for because they are going to list it for sale. Ifyou were to give it to them on consignment they are going to give you a price about equal to what you would get less the commission. For me this worked well…I got my money right away.
Hope this helps you.

It is very slow right now and I expect it to be so until after the holidays period is over and people start to think spring. I have sold a lot of used saddles and have noticed that it is taking longer than in the past to sell a good used saddle. Prestige is not popular as far as the dressage set goes. I have a used Custom Saddlery that is a popular brand, is priced cheap and not much serious interest except the occasional low ball offer.

My rider says to me the other day “do you think this saddle is as uncomfortable for the horses as it is for us?”

We are not fans of the prestige. Nor are my friends who purchased them and could get hardly any interest on them resale even though they were barely used and had to keep lowering and lowering the price.

It’s slightly off because they are well made, they just don’t seem quite right for many people or horses.

Big help…thank you

Agree with others - they are not a very popular saddle. AND this is just not the time to sell a saddle. I’d say, wait until April or May. This time of year, a lot of people are financially stretched by Christmas bills, and riding isn’t a #1 priority.

Glad I was a help…good luck!! Let me know how you make out! I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

I LOVE Prestige saddles, and have found that their market has dropped off a ton :frowning: for my last gelding I found and older brown model for $500. I was in excellent shape. I ddnt fit my new mare so I sold it :frowning:

I tried a few for my wide Lipizzan and hated them. In general I don’t care for the french/italian style saddles, they just don’t work for me.

I have never owned a Prestige but it does seem like there for a while I was having no trouble getting rid of saddles of any kind. Then this last year no bites at all on my ads. I’ve got a lovely Albion in show condition and I can’t even get watchers on it for eBay. I know it’s not a popular model, but man I’ve been sitting on it for months. Along with a few others I am practically giving away. Glad to hear it’s not just me…

It took me probably about 5 months to sell my Stubben Maestoso. Nice saddle, comfortable and in good condition, recently reflocked. I took a loss on it but it finally sold last week.
