Are there smaller bottles of Regumate?

We want to try my mare on Regumate for a month to see if it helps. Vet doesnt really carry it as clients who use it go through online scripts. He says it is cheaper for them that way then what he can get it for.

I dont need a full liter and have been searching online for 2 days now and cannot find a site that offers smaller bottles. Vet is saying does of 12mL per day for about a month as a trial period.

Do any of you have an idea where I could find small bottles? Thank in advance!!

To my knowledge it doesn’t come in smaller bottles. However, I could be wrong about that. Is there another vet in your area that carries it? Many vets who keep it in stock will dispense smaller amounts; they make smaller dispensing bottles for Regumate just for this reason. We do this for clients who don’t need a large bottle; I think the smaller bottles are about 250 ml, if I remember correctly.

I’m almost positive I have gotten smaller bottles before. It would have been over 10 years ago though.

I wish! My mares last pregnancy she was on it for 18 days…a whole 180ml’s used out of the 1000 ml bottle. The remaining 800+ ml bottle is still sitting in my kitchen cupboard almost 3 yrs later; expired I’m sure. I couldn’t find anyone to sell or give it to!

Okay, I just got to the office and we definitely sell a small bottle of Regumate. It is a 150 ml bottle, and generally we sell it to people who want their mares on Regumate from the time of breeding to the time of the first pregnancy check. The company that makes Regumate sells small Regumate dispensing bottles so that you can break the large bottle down into smaller bottles for sale. I know many vets don’t want to do that b/c they are afraid to get left with a partial bottle they can’t sell, but if you can find a practice in your area that does a lot of repro they might sell you a smaller bottle.

Thanks! Yeah seems like everyone carries the large bottles now.

One of the other vets in my area thinks she may have some. She is to get back to me if she has enough for at least a short trial period.

Maybe you could look into the injectable, long acting Altrenogest? One shot lasts 12 days, I believe. It’s much easier than Regumate!
