I’m really loving my American Equus wide footbed stirrups. I’m wanting to start doing some equitation classes but wasn’t sure if the wide footbed is allowed or if I will need to get their skinnier version. In a chrome/silver color of course.
Yes, as long at they’re in the chrome/silver color those are fine.
Actually they took away the restrictions on stirrup color last year
@mroades Did they really on stirrups? Man I totally missed that. I saw the restriction on jacket colors got lifted but not stirrups. Dangit.
I think most of my barn has moved towards a wide foot bed stirrup, they are more comfortable for most. I have the Compositi plastic wide footbed stirrups (in grey! grumble) and I love them.
From the USEF Rulebook:
EQ 104.6. When showing in the Hunter/Jumping Seat Equitation section it is recommended that riders use traditional stainless steel stirrup irons that promote proper position of the foot in the iron as well as a correct leg position. It is further recommended that riders use stirrup irons that allow judges a clear and unobstructed view of the position of the foot in the stirrup. Judges may not eliminate a rider for using a particular style of stirrup iron.
They can “ding” them for it however. Correct?
Yes, we can. We just can’t eliminate for black stirrups like we could for that little bit of time. I am generally quite old school, but I can say you would have to rip my Jins from my cold dead hands As a judge I really dislike the black ones for the obvious reasons, but I hate the bendy ones worse. At the end of the day stirrups usually won’t make you find all the jumps
