Are you supplementing vitamin E for your horses?

I have used the Mad Barn vit E but found that Herbs for Horses was cheaper for me, but I don’t have a diet specific horse/pony anymore (I had an IR pony last year so was very careful what he was given. I used the Mad Barn powder then for him).

Yes. I supplement year-round with UltraCruz pellets, since my guy has historically struggled with low E even while on pasture (May - September). Ends up working out to ~5,000 IU per day between the supplement and what’s in his grain.

Yes, one tested low this year despite having access to quality forage, fresh grass, and ration balancer. I’m also supplementing with the new SmartPak liquid vitamin E. The dosing mechanism is great.

the powder doesn’t have either of those

I feed two of these softgels daily. Vitamin E levels test fine so obviously working.

I use Ellevate Vitamin E because it’s worked so why change … I have levels tested a few times a year. I am giving 8000 units per day.

If you were looking to save some bucks, d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate is d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate.

Elevate is $304.45 per 10 pounds, which provides 647 1000 iu scoops (taking pricing from here.)

So, per day, at 8000 iu per day, that cost (not including shipping or tax) is $3.76. A year is $1374.02.

In comparison, the Santa Cruz powdered product, which is the same vitamin e type, is $164.95 per 4 pounds, which provides 158 8000 iu scoops (or 1264 1000 iu scoops, to match the Elevate scoop) with pricing taken from the link in my post above.

So, per day, at 8000 iu per day, that cost (also not including shipping or tax) is $1.04. A year is $381.06.

A grand is a lot of money to pay for a label! There is no functional difference between the two products.

Yes, 10,000 IU of Emcelle per day. He was diagnosed with ECVM a year ago.

My guy gets 8500IU/day. He is dry lotted year round and has tested low in the past, plus we had to treat for EPM this year.

He gets 2500IU in his Custom Equine Nutrition Omega E (flax + Vitamin E) and also gets 3 pumps (2000IU each pump) of the Emcelle which I also purchase though CEN. That is about the best bang for the buck as you can get; 24 cents/1000IU.

Thank you! Everything that was coming up were the pellets so I didn’t think they made a powder form.

I really like that product. The pellets are palatable to my very picky eater… He will eat them right out of my hand!

Yep, Santa Cruz Natural E. What I find intriguing is all those years no one talked about it and we didn’t know how critical it was if they weren’t getting a good amount of pasture.

Nice! That comes in at $.07/1000IU (including shipping) for the alfalfa-based pellet, compared to $.13 for the UltraCruz. I have a 34yo who doesn’t reliably eat enough food to make sure he gets his powdered E, so I’ll give this a try and hopefully be able to hand feed it

Thanks!

Thats great! I just checked it out and the pricing literally just went up! I ordered the beet pulp base a few weeks ago for $50 and see its just over $60 now and the alfalfa based one is up to $70 (it was $60 the other week). Still a great deal though.

Thanks Simkie! I can’t make my brain do the math, so thanks for that. I will definitely take a look at the SC product and will likely switch. They should make you a brand ambassador!

Yes, Nano E. My horse was tested and was very low and it’s worked great for him.

Elevate is manufactured by the makers of Emcelle -just labeled differently at a much higher price…you can get a 1000ml bottle of Emcelle for $117 vs 236mls Elevate for $68
