Argentine criollos in the USA

Hi - not sure if this post is in the right place, but do people import or breed these horses in the US? I’ve found info on Arg polo ponies and TB’s, and criollo breeders and importers in the UK and Europe, but not here in the US. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Polo Pony Rescue in SoCal has had a few horses that were supposedly criollo. Someone must be importing them. Maybe you could ask them? Their FB page:

Wait…what happened to the reply that was here a minute ago, with link to polo pony rescue?

As you noted they are primarily used here for polo. FL and TX would be the primary areas. Are you a USPA member ? If so it ( The Blue Book) lists contact addresses for the big names in the field.

Hi - no im not into polo at all and I understand the criollo is distinct from the polo pony, but thats a great place to look. thanks!

Not all polo ponies are criollos but almost all criollos you will find in the US are polo ponies!

Why do you want a criollo?

I think they are really cool horses just for pleasure and endurance (as in the quality, not the discipline), and I have family ties to Argentina.

I asked someone I know in Fl. Her husband plays polo so he might know of something that isn’t making the grade as a polo pony.

Thank you!

Actually I own a Crillo imported from Canada that is a very skilled dressage horse. I live in Michigan.
