Ariat V Sport Drop

For those of you who have/have had Ariat V Sports, how much did the boots drop with break in? I picked up a pair just outside of the “add about 1.5” to your height measurement” range, thinking that they’d drop more than regular leather boots.

I’m beginning to worry I made a mistake, haha!

I don’t have the V Sport, but their cousin the Volant, which is the same leather and cut. You made a mistake- get heel lifts. However, where you didn’t make a mistake is that these boots are super durable and will be very comfortable for a long time. Mine are 10 years old and I am confident they will survive the apocalypse.

I think ariats made 10 years ago will likely last much longer than ones made today.

For most modern, zippered boots I would expect up to 0.5" drop.

I think you made a mistake :pensive:. On older school boots with a significant drop, I was a “tall”. On both my V Sports and Volants there was minimal drop and I am/was a regular height calf. I finally gave up on V Sports as my schooling boots with their increasing price and what I felt was a decrease in quality- my last pair wore holes in both calves, the zipper fell apart on one boot, and the sole fell off one boot. Previous pairs just got cracked and rough looking in the same time period, ~2 years of daily abuse.

I had a pair and found that they dropped fairly significantly. I agree with the change in Ariat - I always ordered “tall” boots up until the V-sports (or Volants? I got both around the same time), and now order “regular”. But definitely thought they had gotten too short by the one year point, and I gave them away. Maybe I would have been happier with tall after all?

But I think that Ariats in general drop a lot as they get older. I think you’ll be fine.

My Ariat field boots definitely dropped too much, so I hope these will too. I definitely like them and could probably deal with them being a bit too tall, but losing an extra bit of height would be great.
