My schooling tall boots may have given up the ghost last night and I have been window shopping this morning in case my DH cannot fix the zipper this time. Does anyone have any reviews of the Ariat V Sport tall boots? I have the paddock boots and like the footbed, but feel kinda wobbly in my stirrups with them and half chaps. I always prefer an actual tall boot anyway, though, so I don’t know if that feeling is specific to those paddocks. Also curious about durability since they would be used every day. Thanks!
Mine made it 4 years of daily use, which is pretty good for me. I really liked them and thought the leather was nice. I just wish they would bring back the blue top on them as I thought it was so cute.
I know a few people who have had them for daily use and really liked them (one for sure had gotten a second pair as she loved them so much). I was going to buy a pair of the blue-topped style when they went on clearance, but alas my chicken legs don’t fit this style.
Thanks, guys! Good news, my old boots may live again! But, I will definitely log away your reviews just in case. My everyday boots don’t actually work every day but I don’t want a hothouse flower boot.
Love my V Sports. On my 2nd pair now and almost ready to buy #3 to have in the ready. They have worn really well for me. 2-3 years for each pair. I will be sad if I can’t get blue tops, but will still buy the all black!
Ok, so my schooling boots only made it one more ride, and given the rest of their 9yo condition, I bit the bullet & ordered the clearance (blue top) V Sports. Cross your fingers they fit!!!
I have a set of V Sports that I got last year for Daily use, they’re my 4th pair of Volant based Ariat’s. I liked them so much that when I saw them go on clearance a couple months later I bought another pair. (Still sitting new in the box just waiting)
They’re awesome and I love them so much.
Em
I have the V Sports with the blue tops and the Volants with snakeskin tops. The V Sports are my favorite. I like the Volants, too, but the V Sports are the best!
I finally snagged a barely used pair with the blue tops only to discover they were the wrong calf size. I’m so bummed and feel like such an idiot. Why I thought “full” meant “regular” I don’t know. When did they stop using “wide calf” to describe a wide calf? Anyway, the calves are way too big for me and the options for boot repair around here are such that I don’t feel like it’s worth it to get them cut down to fit
Bummer. I imagine they may be an easy sell? I love my Volants, even though I’m not a fan of the red on them. But they’ve been my go-to boots for several years now. At least seven years and they are still in great shape (and still red, haha.)
Ok, how much do these things drop & stretch? They arrived yesterday and I could zip them over a cotton knee sock last night, but not my breeches. I have heel lifts that I think will help with the height (they just make bending my knee inconvenient and isn’t that the “ideal?”). They aren’t uncomfortable to wear around the house other than the knee and being new, but if they were any snugger, they’d have to be my skin! Just checking if they will loosen that much or if I should send them back and look for something else. Thank you!
I have a newish pair of the vortex boots (the one with the iridescent foot bed), they released/dropped a little bit, but not a lot. Zipping them up takes a little work, but no more or less than when I tried then on, and they stretch a bit as soon as I start walking around so they don’t feel too tight.
The only caveat is my old volants (red zipper old!) are still my daily boot and the vortex is reserved for showing until the volants shuffle off their mortal coil. But I did wear them initially for about 2 weeks to break them in, inasmuch as those types of boots need breaking in.
My Volants were really snug up against the back of my knee and would rub my skin off for the first few rides. I used one of those gel sleeves and it worked great. Now they fit almost like they were custom made for me.
I feel like they do stretch a fair bit. That said, I had a zipper issue with mine. My left calf is bigger then my right. The boots fit my right leg perfectly but the zipper on the left boot doesn’t lock and constantly slides down when I’m riding. Very disappointing. I like the boots a lot and got them on clearance, but probably wouldn’t buy them again.
I have them, I have huge problems finding boots that are comfortable and I LOVE these. I have the blue top which is extra icing on the cake as my helmet and jacket are blue…
I had the blue top V Sports and the zipper collapsed weirdly against my achilles tendon once they were broken in. They were fine for riding but walking around in them was impossible. I had to send them on down the road. ðŸ˜
Bumping this up instead of creating new: how do the shoe size fit compared to street shoes? I’m a solid 7.5/38 in everything but find that some tall boots tend to be a hair long and I catch the toe and trip.
I wore the same in street and V sports.
I also had the weird issue that @Suspiria had with the zipper into the tendon…
I am an 8 and 3/4 and wear a 9 in Ariat.
I find them to be close to my street shoe size edging towards generous. I like that because I can wear thin socks in the summer and thicker socks in the winter. I just ordered a second pair because I like them so much and, as with all things Ariat, they will someday be discontinued.
I’ve had my original pair for almost a year and ride in them almost daily. However, I almost always take them off if I need to hose down my horse and I really believes that approach contributes to the longevity.
